Hey guys--
This trip was only partly for mongering so my info on that is sketchy. On this one I wanted to do some outdoor sports in Cabarete and also get out of the tourist areas a little and try out my spanish.
Started in POP and checked out some dominican places. Most of them are around the Ave Colon area. Galactica, La Fragrencia, Color Tropical, Barrica and a place called La Casita or something like that. The last place was an open air place where the locals go to dance and socialize. Barrica was an indoor place, same thing. Neither seemed overly great for mongering on the nights I was there. Fragrencia had a half dozen girls but poor quality. I had a great time checking them all out but Galactica was most fun, a strip place but a little larger than many, I was the only tourist. More chicas here than elsewhere. A few looked OK. Couldn't smoke inside. Bummer. But I enjoyed hanging on the street also.
Went to Mountainview on Friday night but it was dance night I guess, no tourists, few chicas, no show. I guess to hit the shows we have to know on which night. Tried to hit it another night at 3AM but they had closed for the night.
Hit Principe, La Ferry and Scape one night, out of town on the carretera. Nothing happening at any of them but glad I stopped in, always wanted to see what they were like. Small places, but Scape was a little larger and they have a stage show which I waited an hour and a half for, as they kept promising, but finally I left. It was a very slow night maybe they had the shows later. Girls overly aggressive, will sit down uninvited and expect drinks. No big deal just be prepared.
Overall impression of the scene in POP is that right now there ain't a lot happening, its real slow. Galactica was the best. I would try to find out what is the best night to hit Scape and Mountainview. At Scape I was too early, about 11. Maybe after 12 or 1 is better. I had a lot of places to see and I couldn't be everywhere during the prime hours.
The bikini contest at Blackbeard's was really good and worth checking out. Some outstanding ladies. You may wish to stay for a weekend to be around for it, there were lots of people and chicas.
Longbeach was mostly dead, no one at the bars that face the beach at night, the place across the street from Crystal's had some action after midnite, some nights more than others, quality poor, a few cuties if you wait, but no big deal. Crystals had a few beautiful girls but you should make a private arrangement, the price is silly. The place was mostly empty of tourists, a reasonable number of chicas.
At this point my trip left the mongering world and I went to Cabarete for a waterfall trip and some horseback riding. Chicas are available here but quality was poor. There were a few very stuck up very beautiful chicas wandering the beach at night, hard to know if they were available or not. Others are around on the main street but many are trouble and have no ID. Great town for taking some tourist time but not for mongering. Iguanamama has some great stuff to do and they were more expensive but reliable.
Finished with a few days in Sosua. Compared to last year at this time it was really quiet but still fun. The Four Roses bar had live music on Friday night and lots of chicas. The next night it was thin there. But everyone was at Classico and Latina, which were jammed by midnite. Classico is not the pickup place that High Caribe was, but its OK. They told me that HC is closed right now. Didn't have the time for it anyway, nor for the new casino and disco. I did stop by the carwash during one day, hung out for an hour or so in the afternoon. There were a few chicas, then they left, then as I left a real honey sat down. It is worth an occaisional moto ride out there to see whats available.
All throughout I was paying 1000 for short time. The girls were asking more but when I would make a move to leave, or start looking over the other ones, they would say OK. Half the time they would repeat the demand for 1500 after we were both naked in the room, but would drop it after I climbed out of bed and put my pants on. I would say I am sorry my mistake. Lets leave. They would say OK, 1000. One of them asked for 500 pesos for the moto. I said the moto is 20 pesos. She said she lived far away. She must live in Tibet.
Sorry if this report is not written well or a lot of fun but I wanted to hammer out the basic facts in order to return the favor for those who have helped me out on these forums.
One last thing--- if you go to Sosua there is only one hotel that you want, it is the Europa. It was the only hotel which actually ran the generator when the power was out, and the only one where the generator would power the AC. The power is out almost all the time. Lots of hotels have generators but they don't mention when you ask that they have no diesel for it.
