Albert Pujols, the All Star third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, did a number on Cincinnati pitching yesterday, and joined a rather exclusive club of Dominicans who have hit three home runs in one game. The slugger's third homer gave the Cardinals a come-from-behind victory over the Reds 9-8. The Dominican's eighth home run of the new season came off of a 1-2 pitch sent by closer David Weathers, and traveled an estimated 411 feet in the new ballpark. Albert joins well-known stars such as Rico Carty who did it in 1970, and Manuel Emilio Jimenez (El Mulo) who did the deed for Kansas City in 1964. Moises Alou was the last Dominican to perform the feat, helping Chicago back in 2003. The former Chicago Cubs star, Sammy Sosa, has done it five times and is the only person ever to do it three times in one season, in 2001.
