The recent Gallup poll showed that 47% of Dominicans of voting age prefer the ruling Dominican Liberation Party (PLD). 29% said they support the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) and 12% back the Social Christian Revolutionary Party (PRSC). 2.1% of the voters back the newest party, the Social Democratic Revolutionary Party (PRSD), formed by PRD dissidents. 7.4% said they have no preferences, and 2.3% refused to answers pollsters questions. The PLD has more followers among women (51.5%) than men (42%). The PRD did slightly better with men (30.1%) than with women (27.6%). More men (14.3%) than women (10.9%) prefer the PRSC.
The poll was carried out between 7-11 April 2006 and 1,200 voters were polled.
