For many Dominicans, this is the time of year for getting out their "winter wear." The light rains and the continued low temperatures are, according to the Meteorological Office, scheduled to continue for a few more days. Forecasters say that the situation is caused by the remnants of a cloud cover that was part of a frontal system that passed through here this past week. Small craft operating in Samana, off the north coast and in the Mona Passage are advised to be aware of possible high seas. In Constanza, the temperature dropped below 0 degrees Celsius, and the lowest temperatures since 1970 were recorded in Santo Domingo.
