As I've tried to say in every post... ...this board, the info on it, and experiences shared are great!

So I've given myself a pop quiz of sorts to see if I have some of the essentials down - feel free to respond with a grade and comments:

(1) PLACES TO STAY: HOTEL EUROPA; LA ILSA BONITA; CLUB RESIDENCIAL; NEW GARDEN (NG); LAS TERRAZAS

Question: Can you arrange airport pickup with these places? Price?

(2) A MUST FOR DRINKS & EATS: Susanna's; Rocky's; the Shark Bar.
Great ribs, and bartender(s) at Rocky's.

(3) THE REASON TO GO: Classicos; Passions; Sousa Life Bar; Cubre Libre Bar

A few Do's and Dont's:

Get cell phone right away for hook ups with girls you want to see again.

1500 is the norm - most will try to hit you for 2000 and up; but know before you go...Never go with "Whatever you want to pay papi" or "Whatever you like mi amor" - It'll bite you in the ass later. 300 - 400 is a nice tip if the night was good; 500 if she was truly great - which gives her the 2000 she wanted to begin with - but make her earn it.

Just take drinking and dinner money out with you basically - have the 1500 - 2000 setup in the room; seperate from bankroll that should be locked or stashed away.

Keep extra suppplies in bathroom for guests to freshen up with, toothbrushes etc.

Keep frig stocked with basics - bread, eggs, bacon, Presidentes.

Question: I'm a Jack Daniels and Glenlivet man. Should I bring my own stock for the room (which I think would be cheaper); or will that be confiscated by customs?

Keep ipod with speakers in room with a mix of dance music for private parties.

Be polite but firm with the No's - don't waste time with chicas you have no interest in...especially at Classicos...used to call em cock blockers back in the day.

Classicos can be overwhelming the first time with chicas smacking ya ass, grabbin' your crotch, rubbin' ya chest and arms...try to position yourself to see but not be seen at first to get the lay of the land.

Seek out Robert - Peter and any vet ISOC members right away - they can cue you to what's hot and what's not during your trip...who and what to avoid.

Beware chicas on motochoncos - who pop off and come at you a lil too quickly with a big smile and bouncing titas - they're lookin' to snatch and run.

PASSIONS' SOAPIE IS A MUST DO!

BB is mixed - have cell for possibilities after bikini contest.

The casino is really the only thing open after 2am

It wouldnt hurt to spend some time seeing some other sights; recommended on this board - horseback riding - scuba - and surfing.

What no fishing? That's what I wanna do - recommendations?

On that note a couple I know (they do the all inclusive resorts) says its nice to take small gifts for the hotel staff - especially for their kids - cause there's so lil in DR. Like they buy boxes of candy wholesale - - or school supplies (notepads, paper, pens, pencils) on their August visits and give them to the maids, and people at the desks, and security...

...dont get me wrong they tip as well; but they say that little extra friendly gesture goes a long way in the staff making sure you have a nice time and you're remembered on your next visit...

...and when you think about it isnt that what most write on this site...that lil something extra a chica will do that makes you give her an extra 400 pesos or call her back the next day.

Okay I had way more stuff to write...but its late or early depending if you work tomorrow...and this Glenlivet is kicking in.

PEACE!

Fishing , I know the best captain in Sosua, but you really have to hit the timing right as the fishing in sosua generally is not that great...

I never had or heard of anyone having any trouble bringing booze into the DR and we usually bring multiple gallons.

Saves a freakin FORTUNE drinkin a big bottle of Capt Morgan out of your room rather than buying it 1 shot at a time from a bar. I usually fly in the throw away plastic red cups so I don't have to bother the hotel staff at all. Coke and ice is cheep and only a short block away from the New Garden

Your research is on point. You are prepared for a great 1st trip. Although, my price usually includes the "tip", so its 1500 and out the door mostly. Or 2000 tln if I really want her.

You will be fairly overwhelmed, so best advice is to just relax and only take a chica you are vibing with.

My question is are you guys getting alcohol to DR with no problem in your checked baggage? I am definitely taking some bottles next trip.

Just adding to my notes so I'll be current...

...more and more I'm seeing NG is the place for a newbie like me...

...renting a villa and a car - is graduate or PhD level; and I'm not there...yet.

NG pool area is cool because of the chicas who hang out there and pass through.

Breakfast there...not so great, hit the Waterfront instead - cost about $1 or $2 more but worth it - plus a better view....

...but ask Willie for off the menu specials for dinner - outstanding cook!

One thing I'm noticing is guys go down with a lot of anticipation about hooking up with this chica or that one cause they saw her pic; or heard this about her... ...then when they get there - it just don't click...

...So lesson learned: Go in with an open mind; don't fall in love...hmm..lust with a chica's picture or post about her because YMMV!

Also enjoyed posts about meeting women just looking to hangout.

Can't remember member's name - but he had a great post about meeting this one girl while she was shopping - and she was cool about just hanging up at his room - watching TV and makin' out...

...and another who posted about vibin' with a girl who worked at the Casino - who was just cool hangin' out with him...NO CHARGE!:D

Lesson learned: Don't sleep on the freebies; but watch the ones who want to be wined and dined; and for you to take them shopping; and want you to meet "mi famila".

Also great info: on college students who come into Sousa on the weekends basically to drink, dance, and party - they aren't hardcore and won't beat you down for outrageous amounts...saw two different posts where two different girls GAVE BACK $500 pesos because they thought it was TOO MUCH!?! ...:D

Hi Jack

Some good stuff here. I won't comment on all of it and of course there is loads more that could be added but you certainly have the basics off by heart.

Good comments. If you are young, reasonable-looking, and fun to be with you will have little trouble keeping to these prices, but the rest of us struggle a bit nowadays in Sosúa to keep to 1500 for TLN. (Easier outside Sosúa, though).

Keep ipod with speakers in room with a mix of dance music for private parties.

Lock your iPod in a safebox. Very stealable.

Who's Robert? Do I know a Robert?

Just keeping my notes current...

...well I should I'm booked - my flight anyway - July 2 - 6th - hope to meet some of you there...still leaning towards NG for place to stay.

...picked up a great tip on getting tourist pass in advance by purchasing it in NYC at one of two places - DR consulate or Times Squares Tourist & Visitor Center...

...it's interesting cause I'm reading in some posts guys say the chicas are getting more picky about gifts - the days of the .99 cents store are over!?!...

...others have posted stories about girls just needing underwear...or wanting to take toilet paper from their room...or just plain grateful to hangout for a meal...and a quiet place to sleep (TLN)...

...guess it depends on the chica. In the end I'm just picking up things here and there that I see on sale...will probably hit the garment district in NYC - great bargains with tax ID!

Got some great advice too on changing money...avoid street guys if you can...get it all done before Friday night to avoid being shut out or just plain stuck without cash...never let the motoconcho drop you off in front of the exchange place... ...get off a few doors down and walk - hook up with your ride at another spot

Still looking to go fishing though?

Just keeping notes current - havent done with much studying since college daze!

Correct if I'm wrong - but the NG safes have a way for you to attach a combination lock on the outside as well? (Read in a post)

Recommended is purchase of Real Estate Lock (used by realtors) it allows you to lock a small key within the lock itself; so inturn the larger lock helps secure your safe and the compartment it has secures the key which can only be accessed by combination.

No more carrying a key you might lose in a bar or at beach; no more sweating what a chica might do in room while you shower!:D

-Susanna's is in The "Villa Flor" complex, on the left past Super Super before Hotel Europa, look for an arch that says "Villa Flor", the sign for Susanna's is on the arch.

-Cuba Libre Bar is about 1/4 mile past Passion's on the same side on Pedro Clisante heading away from town towards Cabarete.

Is this the recommended place for reasonably priced tipico meals for chicas? Two years ago I wanted to buy two haitianas (Bushbaby and her friend) cheap meals. We were heading for dinner at ErikS's that evening but they were hungry and needed to eat. I took them to what I understood to be Susanna's. I cannot remember exactly where it was but I (wrongly) remembered it as being nearer the Shark Bar and the barber shop, definitely on that side of the road and not as far out as Villa Flor, but looking at these pictures now I guess that is Villa Flor opposite?

It was just a tiny café with a couple of extra tables outside.

The food was not particularly cheap, took ages to appear and was AWFUL. Even my two half-starved haitianas turned there noses up at it and I didn't blame them. Was this the same Susanna's (sinced moved across the road), a different Susanna's, or not Susanna's at all?

That is the "old" Susanna's, which has recently moved directly across the street, into "Villa Flor" to nicer digs!

I have another favorite comedor down the road which is off the beaten path, I heard they have finger sandwiches and Earl Grey every afternoon upon request!

You're doing great. I would just like to say that most of your advice is dead on for a newbie but there are a lot of gray areas. The more trip reports you read the more you will see this.

It's also great to look at the progression of someone. So for example, what changed from their first trip to their second and so on. I would like to think that my reports are good guides b/c I'm so detailed but there are a ton of members (Erik comes to mind) who write detailed reports and are on their 10+ trip. You should read and see how their behavior changes from trip to trip. Their evolution essentially. That is where you can gain additional insight.

Update on notes: STAY THE FUCK OFF THE MOTOR BIKES & MOTOCHONCOS! I've had my share of cuts and scars, and broken bones...not looking to make that part of my report...

...definitely staying at NG - so everything I need is walkable or I'll catch a cab with 4 wheels and doors...lol

As Balcoach said in a truly great post - "monger" at your pace & style; don't let ANYONE dictate what you should do...make use of the solid advice about room safety & setup for the evening; heed advice about chicas who may be "starfish" or "mechanical" or "clingy" or "shadows" of themselves because drugs...

...but in the end go with your flow...if you're ST only - then stick with that, if you want TLN and are cool with chicas staying overnight then doing breakfast after - go with that, in the end you're paying so play it for your satisfaction...(TLN standard is 2 hits for the night; and breakfast in bed - so to speak)...if you want GFE or to get wifed up - more power to ya!

...keep your MP3 or Ipod or whatever loaded with music she can get into; just be aware of where your shit is (music player, camera, etc) when she leaves.

...for me quality not quantity will be cool...if I do in 4 nights what Jagu did in 2 (3 phat ass honeys; one with incredible edible titas) I'll be a very happy camper...

...if Aries is cool with you and likes your vibe...she'll want it in the ass!:corky:

IF I COULD HAVE THOSE 3 FROM JAGU'S REPORT; ARIES TLN; THEN ARIES & DEBORAH FOR A HAPPY HOUR - MY TRIP AND LIFE WOULD TRULY BE COMPLETE!

...keep bar and frig stocked with Presidentes, soda, water, and chicken from the Chicken Shack for late night snack - chicas love it...:corky:

...take extra towels down with you, leave the room ones for the chicas.

...and again don't sleep on the freebies...especially the touristas hanging on the beach looking for the same fun we are. Just a matter of your approach and style on those.

Since I'm doing the whole layover - switch planes in Miami thing - I'll simply go with a bag I can carry on...so it's pack light and tight, booked seat towards front so I can be one of the first off...

...check passport stamp for date so you dont get scammed goin home; walk with confidence leaving airport so "security" doesn't BS you with bag check...its a con to see what they can steal outta your bag...better off slipping a $5 tip and keep walking!

Many thanks to all I've gotten my education from...you all are making this a great future  trip for me!

LA PASSIONS/PETER - just legendary - I remember someone saying that the girls here are simply a cut above everything else on the island.

Only downside is you may not get the treatment that a vet (regular) does, but that too depends on the chica and how you approach it. Even though her pic got moved from another thread - Zuleika will be my first ex-wife, then Aries as long as MOSHY ain't around...lol; Deborah is a possibility but availability is always a question with la reina - either "wifed up" with regular, even suspended by Peter at one point (bro runs a tight ship!)...play it by ear as BALCOACH or WEYLAND would say.

Also revisit ERIKS' threads - great photos of the island and layout in general: everything from the chicken stand, dancing bachata in the clubs, beachs, and getting groceries and supplies.

okay have to admit at times I'm a little technologically challenged - with this whole phone thing:

Is it better to (1) just get a phone for use in the DR? (2) Take an old phone and get a card there that can be activated? (a) I have an old Verizon phone I haven't used in a year+ (b) get DR SIM card for current ATT phone - if I "lose" it no biggie, I'm due for an upgrade from ATT when I get back in a week.

outside of that I'm pretty set: still need that Kyrpto lock that connects to furniture, have others; but really like that one; and have to get to NYC downtown to pick DR tourist card - just to save hassle getting off plane

Its preferable to bring your own phone. Opting for a middle of the road to lower-end dominican phone (Orange & Claro) will cost you more pussy that you'd care to count.

Should I use the old Verizon or just use my current AT&T with the DR card?
