Foreign Relations Minister Carlos Morales Troncoso has announced that the Organization of American Sates (OAS) General Assembly will be held in Santo Domingo, not at Casa de Campo, La Romana, as originally planned. The meeting will take place from 4 - 6 June. The assembly will be launched on 4 June at 6pm in the National Theater and working sessions will be held at the Ministry of Foreign Relations Auditorium, according to a report by Diario Libre.
Earlier, on 30 - 31 May, a summit of Heads of State and Government of the Central American Integration System (SICA) will be held at Casa de Campo. US President George W. Bush has been invited to attend this meeting, which is aimed at analyzing alternative ways to supply fuel given the high prices of oil on the international market. As of yesterday, neither Morales Troncoso nor US Ambassador Hertell had any confirmation of President Bush's participation in the event.
