Armed Forces promotions

Yesterday, President Leonel Fernandez promoted 7,348 members of the Armed Forces, including 606 high-ranking officials, 2,241 subordinates and 4,501 recruits. The collective promotion, which is accompanied by considerable pay increases, is considered the largest in Dominican history. It includes the promotion of 21 National Army and Air Force brigadier generals and six Navy rear admirals. The President also assigned a new commander of the Sixth Infantry Brigade of the National Army. Through decree 83-08, Fernandez appointed Israel Anibal Diaz Pena inspector general of the Dominican Air Force and Ruben Paulino Sem as commander of the Sixth Infantry. Ulises Amable Cedano was made commander of the Northern Arial Command. Marcos A. Mejia Sanchez, Julio Cesar Sanchez Suero, Manuel Antonio Espinosa Feliz, Bienvenido Cordero Batista, Rene Antonio de Leon Suero and Carlos E. Jimenez Miranda have been promoted to brigade generals in the Air Force while Luis Francisco de Leon Rodriguez, Leonardo Enrique Sabater Nunez, Rodriguez, Miguel Ramirez Martinez, Juana de Jesus Pena Rivera and Felix Hipolito Feliciano Castillo have been promoted to the rank of brigadier general in the National Army.
