I get the same questions via PM quite often so I think that it would be better to answer them in a thread for all to see. :smile:


Q: Why should I go to a casa without a cab driver or tour guide?

A:
Never go to a chica-casa with a cab driver or tour guide. If you do, then the cab driver or tour guide will get a cut (a commission).

For example, if you pay 1,500 for a ST in Boca Chica, and you went with a cab driver or tour guide, then this is how your 1,500 is broken down.


Cab driver/Tour Guide: 500 pesos
Casa: 500 pesos
Chica: 500 pesos

The chica is upset that you cannot find the casa by yourself and she will expect a tip from you.

But if you go alone, this is how it is broken down.


Casa: 750 pesos
Chica: 750 pesos

Both the casa and chica make an extra 250 pesos and you will not be pressured to give the chica a tip.

If you really need to take a cab, then do this.

For example, if you want to go to The Girl's House, then tell the cab driver to take you to the Intercontinental Hotel.

Once you get to the hotel, make sure that you see him drive away. Once you know he is gone, just walk over to The Girl's House.

In Boca Chica, the street vendors sell fried fish and a side dish. I paid 250 pesos for a plate of fried fish and a side dish. So do not pay a peso more.

Ah Cheeno, great effort as usual, but you're assuming the schmucks that send you email questions actually will read some posts.

And, as we all know, they would rather send an email to one person and get all their questions answered, than take some time to read past posts.
