The largest group of deported ex-convicts so far this year arrived at Las Americas International Airport yesterday. Seventy-five percent of the 102 deportees have served time for drug trafficking. The total number of deportees this year has reached 1,041. The group was taken to the Police Department and later to the National Drug Control Department (DNCD), where they are being processed, and will later be turned over to their families. More than 5,000 Dominicans are reportedly serving time in United States prisons for a range of crimes.
