Universidad Autonoma de Santo Domingo (UASD) professor and employee unions have announced that they will start a hunger strike today in demand of a 30 percent salary increase, the improvement of their medical insurance and other benefits. According to a report by Listin Diario, they are blaming the center's authorities for the loss of the academic semester. According to the president of the University Employees Association Angel Osiris Torres, a hunger strike is a universal civic method.
