[DR1] Environment employees suspended

The Ministry of the Environment and Natural Resources has suspended 10 employees suspected of carrying out acts of corruption related to their work in the Ministry. Six belong to the Municipal Police and the remaining four are members of the Department of Grounds and Water. According to a press release, the employees engaged in bribery, extortion and conspiracy with truck drivers and mine owners for the illegal extraction of gravel and other materials in the areas of Manoguayabo, San Cristobal and Jacobo Majluta Avenue. The case is being handled by the Environment Prosecution and a final decision will be made after the investigations have been completed.
