The Tax Department (DGII) is warning exporters that they will only receive ITBIS (VAT) refunds after their companies have been audited. DGII General Director Juan Hernandez Batista said that the measure is part of the requirements contained in the bill that regulates the autonomy of the DGII, which is pending approval in Congress. "No money will be refunded without an audit" emphasized Hernandez, who was speaking during a luncheon organized by the Dominican Exporters Association at Santo Domingo's Hotel Jaragua. He expects the bill to be passed next week. Hernandez also reported that 25% of taxpayers are using the institution's website www.dgii.gov.do (http://www.dgii.gov.do).
