Mongering in Punta Cana is not much different than anywhere else …. and I do mean anywhere! It is just that Sosua, (“a holy place” Don Thomas, I think, coined) … is where certain punta behavior is expected, and there are a substantial number of establishments openly catering to the process.

There are the same things happening in Punta Cana that happen in Sosur … the only difference is that is not as forward and obvious. And you have to work for what you are accustom to in the more “holy places.”

Punta Cana is composed of dozens of huge all inclusive resorts on arguably one of the longest and most beautiful beaches in the Caribbean. Only Cuba, supposedly, has a better and longer one.

So there are plenty of Dominican women working in the hotels, and playing at night.

This trip was with wifey. We had to pick a place at the last minute. We found a non-stop roundtrip all inclusive three days before departure for 720 USD (March 3, 2008), 6 days 5 nights only the transfers were not included. This all inclusive, “Tropical Alisios Bavaro” included unlimited weak drinks and palatable food served on their schedule.

I wanted to go to Caberete … (within striking distance of La Passion’s SEG) … but she wanted PC.

But I digress …. A seven minute walk out the back door of our hotel was a local bar not unlike Dominoes and the others in Sosua. Across the street was a “Sports Bar” that was even more local. If you began to walk to Cortecito there were even more. I understand that in Cortecito proper (not on the beach) there is plenty of local contact. But you need the language. The street hawking (in Cortecito) is the most relentless I have ever experienced.

I met a Brit early on who had been there more than myself and supposedly had a GF further up the strip past Cortecito who did not know he was in town yet. He was planning on spending a year to learn the language and start a business. He was ensconced inside the most inexpensive All Inclusive in the area he praying that the “chica network” will keep him undercover for another week or two. He had visited more than two dozen times and he knew the ropes.

So I take wifey up to look at the closest neighborhood hangout, The Petite Garden in daytime. The night before the Brit had been escorted by the hotel’s head of security because he was told the place was close to a brothel at that hour of night. YES!!!! But this is 3 PM. So I set out with wifey in hand. We find a new supermarket we could have used earlier. Look around a spanking new plaza … when I suggest a Presidente across the street “at the nigh time brothel.”

This “is” the DR and there is little or no mistake that you can “play for pay” wherever and whenever you choose.

The bartenders were ready for the evening and there were four “not so bad” chicas making fierce eye contact over the shoulder of the wife.

We ran into the Brit … midday no less, sucking on a Presidente (only Brahma was served in the hotel in small plastic cups.) Every instinct I have honed suggests that the Brit had found something to tap into up there. He introduced us to a Black Dutchman who was equally fun to talk to and share notes, especially when the wife hit the WC.

These guys were having a great time fully working “undercover” or in the shadows. Which is how you need to do it when you do not have the open expectations of Sosuer?

So the moral of my story is that a good time can be had all most anywhere in the DR. The same rules of Sosua apply but it must be discrete.

There was also a disco named Mangu very nearby that sounds like a Classico. It reportedly had two separate dance floors and was open every night.

I noticed what looked like neat clean Cabanas at every turn.

You need to identify a local cabana, and/or provide a good tip to your night watchman to make it more like experience in a “Holy Places.”

My excuse for going there alone or with my wingman is to golf. So with a car and a good wingman I hope to make another trip report very shortly.

I will try to post a few pictures next.

This Bartender was a tremendous flirt and had a killer body. She was driving the Brit Crazy.

I need to figure out how to pull the picture directly into the thread or make the picture small enough to upload.

More when I figure that out ...

Something a little different here, if a bit vague. And what a change to read a report by someone who can write in English, spell and punctuate.

Regarding inserting pictures into your post you may (or may not) find this post helpful:

The short answer is no. But there is always a way around "no" in the D.R. and we found this out by accident.

Back in Aug 2006 we were steered to the Tropical Bavaro AI by an unscrupulous taxi driver (imagine) who was on the payroll. We gave him the hotel name referred to us by a domestic carrier employee at PUC. We stopped at PUC after a ($7) 4 hour bus ride from SDQ to arrange the ($75) one way flight back in two days. Allow me to skip the multilayered details by stating that the bus ride was a little grueling and we had no desire to quibble so we checked in.

After a great evening in Punta Cana we returned to the Tropical Club with our Chicas. The night mgr. then proceeded to give us the old song and dance. This guy spoke 4 different languages and was equally ignorant in each so I reached in my pocket, gave him a Benjamin and we proceeded to the rooms. After a memorable night (thanks to our outstanding Chicas) we went down to the front desk and asked to check out (even though we'd paid up front for two nights). The desk clerk bucked, but we insisted.

Eventually the resort general manager greeted us after some discussion with the many levels of lower management. We explained our situation, he pulled the room cards out of the file and turned beet red when he found my "benjamin" paper clipped to my room card. He apologized, offered us jacuzzi suites at no extra cost, returned my $100 and gave us a day's meal passes for the four of us. He was the most genteel Frenchman I've ever met.

That episode taught us two very important lessons about lodging in the DR:

If you're planning to use a family resort or an AI it is best to book your rooms for two and explain a late arrival for your "novia".
If you fail to follow step one, all is not lost. Everything is negotiable in the D.R. if you have the time and the money. The jacuzzi suites there exceeded our expectations and sent our Chicas into orgasmic frenzy.

Sounds like too much trouble, and luck Greydread.

Punta Cana is a good place to go with your girl/wife, and that's why i always recommend it to girlfriends of mine who inquire about DR...

If you want something other than Sosua, check out the rest of the country.

Never bring your girl/wife to the Puerta Plata/Cabarete Areas... just take them to Punta Cana, that's what it's there for.

In the post above the key things the guy didn't mention were prices. It doesn't matter than the chics looked cute, they know you are in the hotels, spending a lot of cheddar. I'm sure those experiences are a lot more expensive...

Yes, I agree. Things are a tad more expensive in Punta Cana. Not much, a tad. I usually get clothes from Marshalls, TJ Maxx, Ross and Burlington Coat Factory. Sometimes I buy from Macy's, Bloomingdale's and Nordstrom just because they have exactly what I want, exactly when I want it.

Folks who come to the D.R. just for the punani carnival probably should stick to what they're comfortable and familiar with. There's just so much more to offer in the different regions of the D.R. that I would encourage folks to explore as much as they can.

Back in S.E. Asia in the early 70's there were $2 whore houses and $10 whore houses. What was the extra $8 for? To keep you out of sick call.:D

La Romana also has family oriented golf vacation AI's.
