I completely agree with your ranking Thomas, especially the ambiance at Kelvins. The plastic chairs and tables have to go.

I was at Gomez Diaz car wash last Saturday (July 16) with two of my brother in-laws. There were plenty of girls to choose from. I had an offer to take a girl back to her home in San Jose de la Matás. I passed. I called up a "friend" from last trip who came by to meet me at GD. I ended up taking her to Ethics after we had a bite to eat. Overall I liked GD.

The best way...

Look here first: http://www1.tip.nl/~t794614/dr/maps/mapsantiago.htm

Kelvins is on 27 de Febrero near the the turn about where the Puerto Plata highway, Estrella S., 27th Feb, and another road intersect. The turn about you hit coming from PP on the highway. It is about 2 blocks down on the right from the turn about. The turn about isn't on the map but you can see Estrella & 27th about to merge at the top of the map on the left side.

Corona is also on 27th Feb but after it changes into Carretera A Tamborl it will be on your left but it's at least 3-4 miles past Estrella S. (Note: Estrella & 27th Feb intersect TWICE)

Gomez Diaz is accessible two ways, if you rented a CAR, go the second way. Take Estrella south to the turn about with A. Circummlation aka A. Hispanicamericana. (located at the bottom of the map) Follow the road past where is looks like shit! I mean it's REALLY BAD. All there are is curbs the road in dirt ruts! About a mile after the road is paved again GD will be on your right. Second way: Take the highway to Santo Domingo, after passing the cabanas there will be an overpass and exit, get on that road and head back to the city, that is A. Hispanicamericana. Follow it for 2-3 miles, GD will be on your left this time.

There are many other carwashes in Santiago but these are the main three.

How is Ethics?

I stayed at Ethics and it was pretty good... 400 pesos for 4 hour stay... I picked up a whore... pro whore that is a stripper at a local spot in Santiago... Picked her up from Patron Burger... 1000 pesos for the chica and 400 for the room... Walk in the room from the garage... table and chairs (small dining area when i walked in) to the right was a kitchen area... down a few steps and the queen sized bed with two night stands and 2 condoms waiting on the nightstand which i didnt use (i dont fuck with the dominican condoms)... Bathroom on the left with soap towels and all that shit we wonder if we are gonna get while stayin in the DR...

Oh yeah and porn was on the TV... LOUD too... i couldnt figure out how to lower the volume either...

hey DT, why didn't you take us to the other car washes?

Because in Santiago during rush hour, they can be upwards of an hour apart from each other.

Question for any Santiago head out there! The American Airlines evening flight from nyc gets in at 9:30pm. By the time you clear cust/immigr, get your bags, pick up car rental, hit the ATM and drive into town, Kelvins car wash will be closed or about to close. Are there any car washes open past midnight? I don't want to do pasions or illusions. Looking for decent quality for under 2000rd.

Go to that Tipico club, or any local spot. I think Kelvin's will be closed. How 'bout that? Me answering a question about Santiago!!

I couldn't hog it all if I wanted to. When we went Saturday night with "dates". There had to be 200 chicas there...and they kept POURING in. Each one finer than the next!

Is one of these car washes near the bus station? I stopped in a place in the afternoon while waiting for my bus back to Sosua.

It's not far from Kelvins...a couple of miles, I think. DT knows for sure. It's definitely a spot to pick up someone quick. There are very few gringos there (the only one we saw was a lady...with her sankie!). The chicas will be eyeing you quick the moment you walk in. You can be in and out (with a chica) in five minutes, if you wanted.

I think it's on a street parallel to it. I remember taking a right off of 27 de febrero, then another quick turn. Of course I could be off...but it is close.

I need more info guys...

What time do they open and what time is there a decent # of girls there. Is the afternoon any good?

Also, how long of a drive is it from Sosua and how much does it usually cost. Is there a good one in Puerto Plata as I know Santiago is a bit of a drive.... And are these places widely know to the cab guys?

To be safe, its two hours from Sosua because you will get lost finding them the first time. There are some in Puerto Plata, hit or miss.

I've looked around but couldn't find the answer to this:

Are the these places set up like a separate bar/lounge next to the actual carwash area? Would it be unusual to arrive at these by foot or taxi, without an actual car to wash?

Funny thing about DR is you do not even need a car to go to the car wash. The concept of a Car Wash is different then in the US. Car Washes in DR are also hang out places where you can pick up waitresses. You need to be able to speak Spanish with the chicas at the car washes. They aren't as easy as Sosua putas where you can just point and show them pesos.

Don Tomas is the expert on Santiago and car washes. Help me out DT!

Speaking spanish helps anywhere in the DR but not absolutely necessary. The car washes are usually open between 2pm and 11pm. They don't offer take out though. You have to arrange a meeting either after or before work. Just have a seat and order a beer. See what you like, make eye contact and motion her over. Use basic gringo spanish or body language to let her know you're interested. For monger newbi's, have a friend or someone here write a short note in spanish with your intentions. Be creative but keep it short. She's pretty, your interested, my name is, what's your's, let's fuck, what's your cell number, when is best for you, what is the gift, etc.......... I've done it and it works!!
