The guys on DR1 are having a lot of fun at the expense of this establishment:

Funny thing is I don't remember it even being mentioned on ISOC.

I like one guy's reply to the question "What exactly is a gentlemen's hotel?". His answer: "It's where they hold the door open for the puta when she leaves".

The Dolphin has not been open for at least two years. It was across the chicken stand close to the Palace. Passions used to be there in its old location. I think the place had a lot of potential (back in 2003), but Big John (aka Karl von Schotz, he was a tag team champion for the Sheik in the old Detroit wrestling territory) kept tearing shit down and start new constructions and then never finishing them. Last time I was there was about a year ago and there was nothing left of how I remembered it. The whole area where the lounge area, pool and garden used to be were now filled with half-finished concrete constructions. There seemed to live a dozen haitian families there as well.

Ah yes, I know where you mean. One of my haitiana's cousins was squatting there. We went there to deliver a bicycle pump (don't ask! :))

Funny that none of the smart asses on DR1 mentioned it was long closed. Even Marco seems unaware of this.

Yeah, real wrestling, like the Mutts are a real baseball team. BTW, did they include an infirmary for catchers in the new stadium?

(Just warming up :) )

Years ago we would stop by the Blue Dolphin to play pool. There were a few chicas hanging aroung every now and then. In the past it was basic rooms.

Stopped by last May and work was being done. Not sure how the set up is now. All i know the pics on the site of the chicas scare me.

I looked in there a few weeks ago, it's an abandoned construction site and a few rooms with no windows with Weyland's novias getting ready for work. Not a place you would want to hang.

The Velvet Glove is a Sport's Book/slots casino now with no customers ever.

I'm fine, I'll be back soon for a month.........when did we meet last? Must have been in 2005?
I always liked Big John, he's fun to talk with. He's a typical prowrestler though: he will bullshit you and try to con you if given half the chance....

Here's a link about his pro wrestling career:

Wow you guys are really going back with the wrestling!!!

I remembered a "John" owning a "Blue Dolphin" which was also know as "Jokers Lounge" It was my one time favorite place to hang out. By my third trip it was closed down.

Yeh! I saw the sheik and fred curry at work on the old tv station circuit in saginaw mi in my teens.

Remember whenever the ref would look away out would come the iron spike! They would tape the shows on saturday mornings then broadcast them on Sunday afternoon, we'd have get togethers to watch ourselves on the tape!
