Re: 01/2015 - Good ole days in santiago
Thursday, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday are the best times to go to the discos/clubs. Some of have live
bands that come in and perform. I have seen Vakero, Omega, La Banda Real, and a lot more, I just can't
remember them. You can find out by checking their website or adding their number to your whatsapp.
Every Thursday night, Lovera has a live band that comes in and perform. Those nights are when the
Dominicans come and show off their girls; so, if you are planning on going, I would suggest you take a
girl with you because most of the girls will be with someone. Last July 4th weekend, I was scheduled
to see Hector Acosta and Ken-Y; but, I had to cancel the trip due to the hurricane. I gave the tickets
to my friend and she took some of her friends.
Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays are slow days. Most of the clubs/discos have planned events
like strippers and drink specials.
There are plenty of places to eat like TGIF and some other name brand restaurants in the malls; but,
they cost a lot. For dinner, I always go to a place called Mr. Grill. All of their meats are grilled on the
open fire. It is not that expensive and not that crowded and the food is good. Mr Grill is open 24hrs.
You can also eat at Puerta del Sol and Ahi bar. The food is good there too. Depending on what time
you go, you may have to wait on a table. If you want Dominican food, Jimmy Jose is good and you
can ask almost any taxi driver or the workers at the hotel and they can recommend a place.

All of them are the same; but, I stay at Aloha Sol because in the day, you are within walking distance of pretty much
everything you need. The hotel has never bothered me about bring one, two, or three chicas back to the room; however,
they can charge you.
I have the numbers to Aloha Sol, Hotel Platino, and Century Plaza. If you want them let me know. I have not stayed
at Century Plaza because it is a little far away from everything; but the rooms are very nice and they have a night club
in the same plaza where it is located.
Places near Aloha Sol:
Banco Popular and Progresso Bank ( go left when you exit the hotel ) - right across the street
Pizza Hut ( go right when you exit the hotel ) - 10 second walk
Orange, right across the street, and
Claro ( go right when you exit the hotel ) - right up the street about 2/3 minute walk
Money exchange agent ( go left when you exit the hotel ) - 2/3 minute walk towards McDonalds
McDonalds( go left when you exit the hotel ) - 2/3 minute walk.
La Sierna ( go left when you exit the hotel ) - about 5 minute walk
Public Park ( go left when you exit the hotel ) - about 10 walk maybe less, it is past la sierna - there are local girls there hanging out. but do not go past the park.
Pharmacy go left when you exit the hotel, it is past McDonalds on the opposite side of the street
There is also a sports bar near Aloha Sol. I can't tell you how to get there but, it is very close
maybe a block over. You can walk there in the day; but, not at night. They have some pretty
girls there and the Presidentes are freezing cold.
You will get the best rate at Aloha Sol, if you call them directly and make a reservation. If you call
them the rate for a regular room is 2100 pesos for the night and less if you pay them cash that includes
the dominican breakfast that they offer. I have met guys there that made reservations over the internet
and was paying over a $100 a night for the rooms. A lot of Dominicans stay there too. From October to
January the baseball teams stay there. I have met a lot of ball players that play baseball in the Dominican
leagues. Miguel Tejada's cousins invited me to hang out with them one night; but, I could not go because
I had made plans to take a couple of girls to Club 22. The only negative thing about all of the hotels is that
not all of them have a functioning safe. When you check in make sure that you ask them for a functioning
safe in the room and verify that the safe works before you pay them.
I just stayed at Hotel Matum at 2250/night. 100 more for the safe. This is the third time there for me. It is a good location for restaurants, casino, disco (Tabu and Pure). The rooms are large with high ceilings and a great ceiling fan. The AC wasn't working well this time, but temps were cool enough that it wasn't needed with fan. Breakfast was a nice buffet mix of fruit, fresh juice, a hot meat dish, plantinos, cereal, yogurt and cold cuts and cheeses. The coffee is excellent. Rooms are dated, but clean. Desk staff very friendly. He told me they charge 900 for a guest, but didn't for me when I brought my Amiga in.
Unlike others, I have never felt unsafe walking in Santiago. I have traveled the world and know when things are shady. I regularly have walked all over during the day with absolutely no concern. And at night around the Monument and nearby bars, the biggest concern is falling into BIG ass holes in the sidewalk! I always take a light and stick to areas with street lights (around the monument it's lit up
more than Times Square!). But to each his own. If I have no chica in tow, I always walk. OK, now someone is going to say that I'll end up as a small footnote in the paper...
I have always been successful in Santiago, with one of my best nights ever with a 30 year old semi pro who supplements her work as admin asst by assisting other executives.
