Hotel Discovery located across from Parque Independencia, and the entrance to el conde. They seem to have 4 different priced rooms, the top priced one being $80, and the least being $35, the in between are $60 and $50. No additional chica price for the top two priced rooms, and an additional $10 chica price for the two lower priced rooms. They have the normal ammenities, wifi, hot water, safe, cable etc. They also have outside public areas on every floor, on the top floor the public area also has a small pool, I mean small!!, smaller than what you would get if you stayed at an individual villa in Casa Linda. Phone # (809) 687-4048/5078; email: hoteldiscovery@verizon.net.do website: www.discoverygranhotel.com
Again imho a better overall deal is to be found at the Aparta Roma.

Hodelpa Caribe Colonial Boutique Hotel:
First impression expensive, and they probably would like to discourage mongering, when I asked about if there was a fee for a female guest not registered with you they first looked at me like I had two heads, so I asked again and the woman behind the desk says to me we know what you are talking about it will be $25 to bring someone in. I just looked at her and asked to see a room. Nobody wanted to show me a room, I felt they thought they would catch whatever I had. .

For those of you who like to know a little more about a city than just where the putas are (I know this is in the minority, but what the hell):
Parque Independencia:
Surrounded by the busy avenues of Independencia, Bolívar and Palo Hincado, this park marks the beginning of the Colonial Zone at its western extreme. Although the area is somewhat run-down, its historic importance cannot be disregarded as where the old and the new parts of the city converge. Often referred as the center of the city, this popular location hosts the Altar de la Patria , a mausoleum where the remains of the patriots Duarte , Sánchez and Mella lie. The Puerta del Conde , another historic site, is located at the entrance of this park.
A few pictures:
entrance from different views:
Parque Independencia (cont'd):
The Altar de la Patria , a mausoleum where the remains of the patriots Duarte , Sánchez and Mella lie:
the blue building behind the Altar de la Patria, is the television station telemicro (normally channel 5), one of the largest in D.R., they give tours:
Inside the Altar:
the remains:
Also a popular place for chica watching, throughout the day especially at lunch time, as many sit in the park and enjoy their lunch, IMO a bit spot for chica watching and meeting chicas in a park is actually on the other end of El Conde in Parque Colon (in parque colon a few girls do their tourist hunting there, or just sit and wait for tourists to make eye contact, especially later in the evenings.:
NICE THREAD ! ! !
THANKS ! ! !
Who me ? ? ?
nahhhh . . . move along, move along . . .
I co-sign on Hotel Roma.
Pound for pound, peso for peso, best deal around El Conde! I was able to get this room for $45. It was clean, spacious, air con, tv, nice bathroom and had a kitchen. Very chica friendly with no fees.
They even have a website for reservations: http://apartahotelroma.com/
Great find Yayow!!!!
One of my fave new spots is in front of the ruins of san francisco. They set up a bandstand and make shift dance floor on sundays and some cuban gusy play music for free!
Good stuff. Drink beer from colmados which are cheap and have a good time. Went a few weeks back with novia and she loved it. Her sister is visiting her today and I said she should take her sister to the concert. She said no. . .. . she wants to go when I get back. . . .except I won't be in town on sundays for a month or so. Oh well. BTW yayow check out casa de teatro on merino thursday nights. They have live jazz. In fact I will be back in town not this coming thursday but the following. We should grab some beers and check out some tunes!
Ah but I was so much older then, I'm younger than that now!
When I was at the Palacio a couple of months ago they said if you bring a chica in and they stay all night or after 9pm it's an extra $10.00.
