Hi all. i am coming to sosua in ocotober and i was looking for some other things to do either with or without a chica. I have not been to puerto plata and wanted to know if there are touristy things to do there. And if so what would people recommend for an afternoon.

I heard mention of the malecon on here--but i am not sure what it is or if it is worth seeing.


Also--how long would it take to get from sosua to puerto plata--and is it best to take a taxi? How would the going taxi rate be to get there and back.

Any help would be appreciated.

i'm planning a well deserved trip down to BlackBeards in december, aprox from the 10th to the 17th, i've been there once solo, would be fun to hook up with other mongers to hit Sosua, Passions, and whatever is out there
i'll be doing some kiteboarding too, FYI
i'm a gringo but i speak fluent spanish, and i plan on renting a car
if its your first trip, pull the trigger, you only live once, its well worth it

DR is one of my favorite places in the world to go! Last year, I flew to santo domingo, got a rental and went to boca chca for the night. I stayed at Don Julio, a hotel on the beach. Plenty of chicas there to choose from. Then in the morning, I drove to punta cana. The drive was kinda crazy on rt 3 but I got there in three hour. Be careful though, there are military checkpoints everywhere. They cool though. I had a bottle of presidente in my cup holder and they where cool with it. I stayed at an AL so there where no chicas in there but a quick cab ride will get you what you want. So Im going down in novemeber and im debating between sousa and santiago to meet chicas. Never been there. Anybody have some recommendations?

if your Spanish is half decent then Santiago is the ticket.....if it sucks or you are lazy or both, then go to Sosua.....
