To Santiago
Sunday afternoon I took a taxi from Sosua to Santiago through Puerto Plata this time instead of the mountain road. The taxi driver is the same guy who has the pork sandwich stand across from the Europa at night. Very cool dude and reliable.
The word on the street was that there was going to be another protest over the killing of the D.A. and I wanted to get out of there as soon as possible.Apparently it was 1 week since his burial. As we road by there were military police ever ¼ mile. Especially heavy past Los Charamicos near the cemetery on the right where he is buried.
Pasting through the Long Beach section of PP looked nice. The new beach looks awesome. I saw some people out on it. The shops and condos nearer to the fort even looked spruced up since the last time I was there.
The road to Santiago is much better this way in my opinion. No bullshit potholed 2 lane road like the mountains. Although the PP section through town was pretty screwed up.
Overall time still took about 2 hours, about he same as the mountain route.
