I'm gonna second this. Santiago definitely isn't Sosua or even Santo Domingo. If you've been to the DR and feel comfortable with the culture and want to explore some more, I'd probably even recommend Santo Domingo before you go to Santiago. I think you should save Santiago until your Spanish is on point and you've got some of the Dominican swagger and habits down.

What are your plans for Santiago, during the day... There is no beach, does the hotel you are staying at allow guests without charging extra. Have you been to Santiago before? What do you plan on doing for those two days? Do you have a rental car/driver or are you gonna to be cabbing it.

Yes some of the best looking girls are from Santiago, but unless you got time or extra funds the newbies may not like it all..

Entrance for an adult is 250 pesos when i was there the last time. Usually a great spot to hang out with girls or even get to know some girls.
