I never would of guessed this was a hotel if it wasn't for Greydread Yayow and other dude we met who I think recommended this place to us. I don't know much about Boca Chica, but this place is in a category by itself compared to the hotels I've seen and we are comparing Apples to Lobsters
I think this is the front of it, and to the left, in the far back you can see the building with a big dish on top? Thats was the apartment building for the Candy Shop, which is one of the higher end casa's which had some nice ones in there. They also had a glass window, which kind of gave it an Amsterdam feel to it, with hookers in windows.
I still think of the girl I didn't take from there a blanca with a really tight athletic body, hope she is still there
The Hotel Europa is right across the street from the Madejra. I stayed there 4 nights in August at $40/ night. They do have breakfast. I got a balcony room facing the Caribbean (1 block away) but the AC was broken. No problem, the ceiling fan worked just fine. The room had 2 beds (1 to play, 1 to sleep) and the accomodation was very basic. It's extremely convenient to the strip on Duarte just go out the front door, turn left and walk 10 paces. There is no wifi in the rooms. They have wifi in the lobby and in the dining room. No need to call for reservations. There's always room.
The last 6 nights I spent at Villa Florencia. I got a 1br suite for $100/ night. Moving there was a relief. For one thing, being right on the strip kind of sucks when you're trying to get some rest or have an intimate My room at Villa Florencia had AC units in the bedroom and in the living room. There was a 40" HDTV with cable in the living room, full kitchen with all the cooking and eating utensils and accessories you could want with service for 8, including cognac glasses, champagne flutes, the works. My apartment had a washing machine (no dryer though) in the bathroom, hair dryer, iron & board, name it. The service was impeccable and when I brought Chicas there it was drawers off at the door. The place is very impressive and I wouldn't carry the hood rats that rolled with me at Europa there though. The rooms have wifi and a hardwired LAN connection. I highly recommend this place. It's catty corner from the Candy Shop and you can sit on the balcony (bedroom and living room have separate balconies) and watch the Chicas roll up and down the street between the bus stop and the strip/ El Batey. I've also stayed at the Calypso Beach Hotel (which is not on the beach). It's across the street from Villa Florencia and on the opposite corner from the Candy Shop. It's $45 a night with balcony, AC, wifi in the rooms, no restaurant. It was okay. (809) 881-6929 (Rafael) or (809) 523-4666 (Front Desk). Clean, affordable, 3 blocks from Duarte with multiple casas within 3 blocks.

There's 2 other places I considered which are, well....really cheap. The kind of places I would stay if I was staying in Santo Domingo and just needed a place to fuck/ crash for a night.
Castello Italiano ($25-$35/ night) (809) 924-0610 Calle Juan Bautista Vicini #16 (2 blocks North of the park)
Villa Marianna ($35-$45/ night) (809) 523-4679 villamarianna@live.com Calle Juan Bautista Vicini No. 11
I don't have the digits with me now but there's another small hotel with a casino and a restaurant directly across from the Play Boy House. I ate there one afternoon after returning my Puta to the club and the food was really good. I met the owner and he gave me their brochure and a rate of $45. night with breakfast but I didn't go upstairs to check out the rooms 'cause she threw my hip out of joint with her Pum-Pum. I might just try this place next trip. The problem is I'd be so mesmerized by all the beauties at the club I'd probably never even make it to Duarte. It's a popular place with the Gringos. There's a large colmado on the next block and the bus/ gua-gua station to Santo Domingo, Coleta. SDQ, etc. is two blocks away. There is a lot of non-pro/ semi-pro action along this route and for $26.30 you can get just about anything you want.
All the places I mentioned are "Chica friendly" otherwise WTF would a guy like me be doing there?
If you like the strip on Duarte and the beach and plenty of cheap, low end, freelance Putas I would stay at one of the places mentioned at the beach (Madejra, Europa, Coco Playa, etc.). If I was really, really cheap I'd go up the hill to the Castillo Italiano. There's all kinds of freaks in and out of there and the rooms are basically tiny little fuck bungalows like the type found in the first ring of Hell. For $25 you can't be real picky.
On the other hand, while staying at Villa Florencia I have pulled Chicas on their way to the gua-gua stop while out front sipping a Presidente and shooting the shit with the security guy. I have met Chicas from the Candy Shop at the colmado down the street and got their digits for later. Every Chica who walked in the door came out of her clothes immediately. Those balconies are perfect for naked romps.
It's up to you. More comfort=more money, however in Boca Chica "more money" really isn't all that much.
Here's where it starts making better sense to go with the high priced spread. The 2BR is $150/ night, cash. For $75 each you'll share a completely guest friendly accommodation, the likes of which would easily cost 4x that much in any major city in the US. The bedrooms are virtually soundproof and each has its own balcony. There's a 3/4 bath in the master BR and other than having to share the single safe I can't think of a single other downside.
In talking with the management the real benefit comes in on long stays. The manager promised me a rate of $1,800 for a 30 day stay. I will be checking him on that promise.
Don't compare things here with Stateside prices. Comparing with stateside quality is OK.
IMHO, 1800 for 30 days is way too much. That's 60 bucks a day for an extended stay (I almost wrote "long term") I can't see it being more than 1200-1300 for a months stay. The owner of the apartment should be willing to drop much lower than 1800.
And if I'm not mistaken, Villa Florencia is NOT a hotel. They are luxury apartments that some of the owners are willing to rent out when they're not here.
That's like calling Casa Linda a hotel. It's not.
Villa Florencia is a condominium complex where the owners rent their places furnished so it isn't a "Hotel" in exactly the same way the Acuarium isn't a "Hotel. Hotel Acuarium is $60 a night without breakfast ($10 more with) and even when the Acuarium was at it's peak, around 2007 it was definitely worth the money in comparison with other Santo Domingo accommodations but it isn't even close to Villa Florencia, quality wise.
You want to talk about quality v cost? I've stayed at both the Mandarin Oriental (Suite) in Washington, DC and at the Barclay Intercontinental in Manhattan (suite) for around $1,200/ night each and Villa Florencia holds its own with both of these places as far as both quality and service are concerned. It's a great place for discriminating travelers without holes in their pockets.
My August experiment taught me that spending $200/ day versus $100/ day for meals, lodging and incidental expences Punani) more than triples my value. I'm just glad I decided to be cheap for the 1st half of my trip rather than the other way around. Trust me, it took a Month to wipe the smile offa my face. I guess that's why they call it a vacation.
...oh yeah, it's a good thing the bed WAS bolted to the floor or I might've fucked up the walls.
My point before was you are comparing the cost to the price of luxury places in the states. You need to compare it to luxury places here.
1800 for a month in Santo Domingo will get you some incredible places that would put Villa Florencia to shame, as well as the stateside places.
But, I guess when you compare it to some of the USD$60,000 a month places here, it is indeed, a bargain.
I'm at the Madejra Hotel now along with Dominican Dave and Smoozwill.
I have pics on my TR of my room, I have AC, hot water, a TV 2 beds, safe and a small fridge.
front desk people are nice and location is ground zero for action.
The Europa is closed down
for 40 bucks a night this is a fine deal here, I'm on the 4th floor so can't hear enough noise to make a difference.
Theres an elevator big enough for you and your chica (unless its one of Smoozwill's chicas)
Helping the 3rd world economy, one chica at a time !!!
Intel on the Dominican Republic goes stale quicker than the milk there. That's why I don't make decisions on long term lodging until I'm on the ground, expecially in Boca Chica. I have yet to be turned away from anyplace for lack of vacancy. I think I'm going to try the hotel/ casino across from Play Boy on Ave 20 Dec next time just to check it out...if it's still open. With pop up on site happy hours right across the street for $2500RD I may not even make it down to Duarte.
It was funny as hell back in June when we went there (about 6 of us) and we're sitting around drinking Presidentes and chatting the Chicas up and all of a sudden the manager yells "Happy Hour!". Boca Chica has something for everyone and the "in-your-face" street Ho action is only a small part of it.
The thing that I've found about BC hotels is that every price, everywhere is negotiable (except the resorts, Hamaca, Don Juan, etc.) just like the Punani.
