New to all this chicas and ticas

Hello I am new to all this. I just looked up some info for a resort deal in punta cana and found all this fun I am going to do a trip in the next two weeks or so and think I have setteled on sosua or amsterdam. I work for a airline so I can fly standby. I can fly into ams straight or I can fly other carrier from jfk to DR it looks like STI would be the best option and taxi or bus to sosua is it very busy right now in sosua should I make a resevation or just wing it how is it to fly into STI and get to sosua.

Welcome. I would suggest just lieaving Punta Cana for a trip with the family or lady from home. You'll enjoy Sosua much more. Read a few trip reports and there's also a lot of general info. on here to prepare you for your trip.

Actually the slowest time of the year in Sosua.
But fun always to be had, especially for a newbie.
You can roll without reservation, but one never hurts, just so you know where your headed.
If you have any ?'s... feel free to post as well as take a minute and peruse the board here, is alot of info on places to stay, food to eat and all sorts of other activities.

Thanks guys for the quick response I was thinking rockys sounds great or NG I have read alot and I was just looking for alittle more details on the trip from STI to sosua I know about the cab from the airport to the bus and the bus to sosua. How hard would it be to scoop up some other guys at the airport and share a cab all the way to town is that an option.

I understand it is about 100us for a cab and about 35us for the cab bus combo santiago to sosua am I close on those numbers or lost in space.

Pretty close! I think cab is closer to 75$ us. An bus / cab combo closer to 30. Have a great trip!

The concern I have is I may get into STI like one or two in the morning and I would hate to have to hang around till six for the cab bus combo so a cab can be had at that time in the morning seeing that J B still has flights inbound.

We've got the number to a reliable taxi driver that will take you to Sosua. Usually $80. If you don't take a taxi, you'll have to wait until Metro or Caribe open up in the morning.

what is the odds that there would be other guys looking to do the same thing and grouping up at baggage claim and share the cost for the cab. I am sure it has been done before my thing is I don,t know what flight I will get into STI flying standby.

Since you can't really plan ahead, its gonna be impossible to set it up with guys ahead of time. In that case, I'd be prepared to pay the full taxi amount. Then, if you do bump into someone, that will just be extra money for you.

I was thinking that with the high cost of the limited flights from usa to pop I have the feeling that every STI flight will have a few guys going to sosua it would be great if I could pick them out at the gate oh I can thay will have the look of a boy the night before Xmas.

That look usually fads some after the first couple trips. There are always mongers on the plane. But some will be staying in STI for a day or two. Some have private rides. Some will be wayyyy to cheap to pay for half a taxi, they'd rather wait until the bus opens up. Some will NEVER admit that they are going to Sosua.

What's up with that--damn mongers afraid to be who they really are--mongers. Shit if it's going to save me some money by finding others to split a taxi with, I'll be proud to say I'm going to any given destination.

Really too cheap jeez if you split the ride it is what forty bucks and the cab/bus combo ends up being like 30 if a guy wants to lurk around the airport for ten bucks and then have to wait for the bus which could blow another hour well that is a cheap man.

i'll be arriving at STI around 1230pm on 18 sep, this will be my first trip to DR and Sosua. i would like the number for the reliable taxi driver mentioned. panhead, i like you work for an airline i'd say to you, if you've never been to ams be prepared to pay a whole lot more than you would in DR. i went a couple of times a years ago and it was expensive then and not just for the chicas. i know we fly for pratically nothing, but still... i soon after discovered Thailand and the Philippines and would never go to ams again.. your cash will go a lot further in countries like DR, CR, Thailand, Philippines, etc..

I did have some good ones, but some were terrible. People have told me there are better places then where I was which was in Central the touristy part.
