    Two Deaths in Sosua

    1. Rhumba killed El Flow

    2. D'Latinos killed Classico

When you sit at a packed Rhumba from 6/7 - 9 or so - you look across at El Flow and it is EMPTY. They are done.

Then on over to Willy's new bar - he knows what he is doing. The place is set up beautifully.
No entrance fee. TV's all over the back wall. Disco lighting that promotes the chicas dancing.
Two large bars. 100 peso large Presidentes. Stools all along to road to watch the action.
From 10 on into the 12 midnight area it is packed. Lots of chicas.
You sit there and look across the street, Classicos is DEAD. Nothing.
Classicos best change their tune - still charging 200 pesos to go upstairs.

    Times are changing in Sosua.

Damn how things have changed since I've been there last. If I would understand DR culture. Classico's would raise their entry fee to 500 pesos due to slower business

But Classicos does not get started, until after midnight. I was just in town two weeks ago. The new bar did take business away from Merengue, Rhumba (use to keep people later) and all the smaller bars on the strip. Classicos was still packing them in on the weekend.

I do welcome a new option on the strip and hope the new bar does well. I did not see anybody dancing in the new club. If that picks up, they could challenge Classicos in the 12-3 time slot.

In my humble opinion, I don't think any of this matters because although the clubs/bars change; the chicas remain the same. And during times when talent seems to be a little weak, it has nothing to do with the bars and everything to do with the customers.

Chicas = Customers; Customers = Chicas. Bars/Clubs don't fit into the equation!

Let the Bars and Clubs criss cross the street all they want. Make sure Caribe Tours and Metro stay afloat and i'm good!!

The new place seems to have done 2 things ... put a serious hurt on Merengue and Rhumba EVERY NIGHT and put a serious hurt on Classico on all but 2-3 nights. People would still go to Classico when it wasn't packed like it is on a Fri or Sat night because that was the after 12 spot as you state, but what the new spot across the street has done was make the slow Classico nights even slower. That being the case, people are choosing D'latin over a mostly empty disco 4-5 nights a week.
Bitch you wasn't with me shootin' in the gym ...

It has, and it's only in the last 2 weeks since it has fully opened. Plenty of people dancing too.

Last 2 Saturday nights only about 20-30 people in Classico's at 1am

D'Latin has put a hurt on every bar on PC.

    Re: Two Deaths in Sosua

I was there a weekend ago. Everybody and I mean everybody seemed to be in D'Latin. WC, old Latinos, El Flow, and all the surrounding bars had very few customers. Rumba was the beneficiary of the overflow from D'Latin. I certainly headed over there one evening simply to get a respite from the crowd. Can't tell you how many folks were in Clasicos because I didn't go into the place once. One good thing D'Latin brings is a air of respectability. Wouldn't be surprised if we started to see more of the single need opportunistic worker chicks from the surrounding communities like back in the good old days. What will help facilitate this is that they can get into and out of the place without having to run the Politur gauntlet.

yup. it's kind of a brilliant design. chicas can walk out of rumba, take half a dozen steps to d'latin, walk the length of the bar and come out on the other side and cross the street to WC, then another hop across the street to merengue/classico.

I hope that too, but in a crowded place a couple bullets could wound 7 people. Plus you got the exagaration factor.

nothing on sosuaonline and no fb postings by local chicas to confirm, so I suspect it's not true.

Exactly!!! I could care less where these chicas hang out as long as they're around.
