11/2016 - Ahnvee Resort in Sosua

Looks like the European dudes that own VH, Bourbon Street, and I think even Clasicos are opening a new resort in Sosua.

My understanding is that it's the old abandoned resort just east of Fred's old Cuba Libre bar.

I drive by there every day. They have 180+ workers going to town on the place, the only 5 star all inclusive on the north coast.

I wonder how this kind of investment could change the landscape. Colibri is a decent property on that end as well, which I think has been dormant? Also have to consider plans for a possible new disco en Playa Chiquita.

The fotos look high-end and plush. Is there beach access on that side ... I don't recall seeing one on that side. I wonder who will be their target clientele?

They are marketing towards the active/ athletic crowd from what I understand. Beach access will be via shuttle at best. There's several posting with 'info' on the other site about it.

I wonder how they can rate themselves a 5 star A I resort in Sosua (see website) when they haven't even opened?

I heard from a guy who applied for work there, that they pay 300 pesos per day (abt $6.50). They had guys lined up down the street wanting to work.

    I heard the same thing

Seems kinda funny that they are marketing to an athletic crowd and they are planning to take the bus to the beach

These folks struck gold with Bourbon Street on PC. Dudes used to look across the street and laugh cause the joint was virtually empty. Then Rumbas got shut down and by default they became the only real daytime spot to chill. Maybe they knew something we didn't? Maybe they know something now the rest of us don't?

In my opinion this is a semi-scam if not a full on one.
Just looking at the website ( with no real facts and a bs opening time of January) make me think of another big scam like CapCana. The few people that got trapped in investing their money in CapCana are crying now...

We are on the same page. There's more to this story than has been posted. The build up to this has been going on for just over one year with small projects to prove to the investors that Sosua was the place to invest their money.

A resort that's not even on the beach? No thank you.

Of course, if they'd staff it and run it like Field of Dreams, they might be on to something.
