Without the internet, how many would have found international mongering?

3 million GI's knew about it long before there was an internet.

GI's had a membership to something far larger in scope.

I found it without the internet!......Had a friend who talked me into going to Costa Rica with him.

It didn't take much persuasion once he started in about the available pussy.

I worked with a guy who got a job in Haiti of all places. While
he was there Haiti went through a period of political
instability. His group was immediately flown to Boca Chica
because it was close by and had open hotel rooms. With nothing
else to do he quickly found the mongering scene. He wasn't
looking for mongering he just blundered in to it. I went to BC
with a buddy because of his stories. Now I have a whole lot of
friends that have been to BC and/or Sosua and even Colombia.
None of us would have ever done this if a co-worker hadn't been
sent to Haiti. We never thought to get on Google and see what
was going on in places like BC.

First p4p encounter was in 1972... while in the Navy... no Internet, only IBM 360s that took up space in entire buildings, and AROD Durham was still poking around with ARPANET.

15 years ago I met a guy who was 70 years old. He'd show me pictures of his "girlfriends" from the Dr. I went to Santo Domingo with him. The rest is history.

Re: 12/2018 - Some things never change - International mongering

I got brought into The Great Game by a colleague in the International Office, who set things up for me to give my Aeronautical Cartography course in Paraguay.

I traveled down there in company with 'Flip' (not his real name) and his #2 man, Kevin, who would become his deputy representative for Southern Cone. Along the way, IIRC in Sao Paulo's Guarulhos Airport where we were changing flights for Asuncion, Paraguay, Flip briefed us on the night-life scene in town ... starting with the admonishment, "What happens down-range, STAYS down-range!"

Our first day in Asuncion was memorable ... from getting swept straight through customs by/with Colonel V, the commandant of their military mapping service, to dinner-and-drinks with him and his technical director, LtCol C ... to finishing up at the nicest cat-house in Asuncion, where I got my gentle introduction to P4P. On the following nights, we got out to places like the Arena Cafe, which was a pickup-place for girls ISO "foreign affairs" ....

Had a couple more pleasure-trips to Asuncion, then I learned about Uruguay on Jackson's "Argentina Private" website ... followed his "ISG" to the Dominican Republic ... and there, on my first Sosua trip, I met Seville and he told me about this place.

Now, ISOC is like my digital "second home."
    I'm still "Just A Lurker."

I have a childhood friend who is a set designer in Hollywood. A family member told me that he worked on the movie Field Of Dreams. I Googled Field Of Dreams and stumbled upon you guessed it,Hotel Field Of Dreams, made a reservation and met Billy Lane aka Dominican Billy and the rest is history. Thank you Billy and RIP.
