Sounds even worse. Does it mean that the more illegal the act, the higher authority has to authorize it?

Some are entitled to liquidation but a lot aren't because many places deliberately terminate their employees before they have been employed 90 days in order to avoid having to pay insurance and liquidation,a horrible but frequent practice by employers here.

I’m not entirely convinced they’re due separation pay or worse yet the Christmas bonus. There’s got to be a type of “cause majeure” clause in the labor code that would exempt payment if termination was due to natural disaster, fire, or government intervention. They aren’t being terminated. They simply no longer have a place to work. The rationale against paying them is kind of one sided, but I think it could support not paying the employees or tying shit up in court until folks accept centavos for their pesos.

As to finding work soon I think those folks are fucked. Remember all three open discos already have staff. The truth is that the situation for those who recently lost their employment is pretty damn dire right about now. My heart goes out to them and their families.

As far as people losing their jobs, it's actually very little. Perhaps 60 - 80? Not significant when you look at Sosua's population of 50,000. If the East end flies, the new bars will be looking for experienced bartenders, it's just a waiting game now. Don't forget that the employees are entitled to their liquidation.

The judge ruling is nothing but a rumour at the moment.

Word to the wise, if you decide to enter NY Drink, buy a Presidente ASAP and use pieces of the napkins to block your ear drums. You'll be the same as the 100% of the locals that do it

I don't know about anyone else but I really am not inclined to go to Ahmvee and see fat ass dudes standing around a pool. Its like a fat man sausage fest. The chicas in that enviroment that is now known as the red light district,................seems like they are all hardened hardcore ho's. The girl next door vibe is gone, The girl just trying to feed her family is gone. Looks like a bunch of sluts hanging around a hotel. That was a major turn off for me at New Garden Hotel.

Its now,......................"Were a bunch of sluts and we gonna turn and burn all night." Fuck a dude and come right back downstairs and get another one. The place where they fuck is less than 50yards on compound so everybody see's that shit. Not sure I can get down like that.

I think you gotta wait for the entertainment district to open...Then you could have a big scene. You got caribe, bunch of places in entertainment place, food there, amvee and the pool. But yeah you gotta put chica on moto and head back south....Could be like a mini Bangkok scene with this entertainment place...but we will believe when we see it if the place opens...

My feelings exactly. I have no desire to visit the place. With the restaurant on-site and open to the public the place will be more like BB without controlled chica prices. Up and down the damn stairs to comeback to sit in the restaurant to wait on another customer. Chicks reluctant to leave the grounds out of fear they’ll miss out on a back to back. Unattractive chicks claiming to own a spot. Shit just seems real slimy to me. Not really something I want to be part of. In particular with an audience watching your every move.

Sosua had many places along PC at the far end in the past, and many closed or were shut down, all past Europa. What will prevent the fiscalia to shut them down at any time? Hotel, bar and hookers in one place is a recipe for a shut down.

Also, the pie will still remain the same no matter how many bars are going to be open. There is just not enough income for everyone, especially from March to November. The pie actually may shrink because many regular tourists, long term residents, and Dominicans used to visit all the establishments at the strip, they won't come to High Caribbean area. Where Dominicans will come with El Flow closed?

That's the one question many of my Dominican friends/couples have bee asking as well since last week. They supported El Flow 52 weekends a year, live music, top local DJs and all. Now this and as I posted earlier, NY Drink is not only a ear drum busting away, its the size of El Flows men's and ladies bathroom combined

I know many have said including me about Sosua, if you want to make a million bucks in business there, start with two million and be prepared to lose half in a short period of time. But given this new entertainment district which is away from the many hotels and villas, why not a location close by with 20 -30 nice studio hourly Cabana rooms with no cars needed and good security. God knows there is enough abandon buildings in the area. They could even provide free golf cart service ( no motos needed) to and back for a tipping charge only

Finally Dulce Secreto would have to renovate and provide better services for what they charge to compete, as for right now its nothing but a a f*ing dump of a business.

Was just thinking..........Ahnvhee is like a new ghetto version of Blackbeard's. They just happen to have very nice rooms..... for guests standing around barely dressed, rather than those out for a night that come with all their clothes on.

Some guys won't even make it to the beach at all or do much at all outside of the hotel, which is what the management would love--more overpriced drinks sold and more.

I'm sure before long there will be some reports of shit being broken in rooms after bad $$ issues with some chicas.

The locals don't care about El Flow and they never did. Yes it was mainly frequented by locals but only a handful of them ever go there. Why would they when they have so many other options available to them at way cheaper prices.

If you really want to experience the locals scene befriend some of them and ask them to take you around to where they hang out and I guarantee you will have the time of your life

I have been to places like Rio Sosua (Sosua Abajo area), Street parties and various places in Charamicos, parties at various gas stations in Sosua area and Montellano and other places and that is where the locals hang out. Go hang out in La Union some night and you will see the real locals scene.

Don't venture to some of these places on your own as not all of them are completely safe for the solo gringo but with a local or a chica who also knows all of these places it can be a real good experience that is also pretty easy on the pocket book

I for one am quite excited for what the future of sosua might hold

For me all these same old places on the PC were getting to be stale and boring for me as it was often the same old same old and way to often the same sorry hardcore girls who often were nothing but trouble. Primarily the reason I didn't spend a whole lot of time in many of the normal strip bars anyway.

It's going to be good for a number of peeps who now might just have to venture out and learn that Sosua was always more than just the one block of the PC

I agree. For now I think the thing that I'm missing is just having a place or 2 to walk in and grab a drink while having some decent eye candy. I've been to some random bars on both ends of the strip and there is no more places that are easy to drink with decent eye candy. The casino is a little out of the way to just stroll in for a drink for most.

I'm now hearing that the police are harrassing chicas more on the beach and out and about. Most chicas are low key, not aggressive acting at the beach and I really think it would be a bad look to rid the beach of them.

I'm sensing there is this mindset of the authorities of let's keep all the animals and trash away from our newly expected mainstream tourists at all costs. It makes for a much more business than fun experience for most of us. Too much segregation is bad for us and businesses in town.

That of course is one of the problems, that quick drink with like minded persons. Where the strip was, was generally convenient for most. Speaking for myself it was always something I tended to do prior to heading out for the night. Stop at Premium, have a few drinks, talk to a few chicas, or fellow mongers. Sometimes invite a chica that was passing by up to the room for a late afternoon delight. Then shower, chill for a bit before coming out for the night normally starting at Merengue. Of course all of that was helped along because my choice of hotel was only a half a block away. I can't see trying to do that if it is located at the other part of Pedro Clisante.

It may not affect the night life too much, but that random relaxed afternoon activity, it certainly will.

I am not sure I want to hang out with the locals, meaning barrio tigres. I don't want to pay their bills, watch them pack, learn the barrio lingo. Nothing against barrios, it's just I don't belong there, the barrier divide is to too wide. Sosua is a fantasy paradise, barrios are like a huge limbo, and Haiti's like hell.
