I've not posted the photos of the girls then; we'll see this time, likely in green

I'm re-reading the original of 'Memories of My Melancholy Whores'.

There is an episode where the old man counts his 14 pesos before going out to a brothel:
5 pesos for himself and a dinner, 4 for the owner of a casa, 3 for the girl and 2 for a room

Never heard of this book before but I googled it to see what the story was about, then read a few reviews, and though it sounds absolutely revolting on the surface, it got my attention and am curious as to how the author tells this tale.

In addition to wanting to get another novel by Charles Bukowski, I'll see about this one you're reading from Gabriel Garcia Marquez.

    Thanks Q.

I got to put this photo up somewhere. Met this one on the last night. Thought at first she was Venezuelan. She turned out to be from Jarabacoa. Pretty face, fat ass, thick thighs and skin smooth as silk. Didn’t come cheap yet delivered on the promise. Fabulous.

There’s an endless supply of beautiful women on that island. Most of today’s Sosua mongers have no idea how gorgeous those girls can be.

90% of them are only able to go for what other guys had and have no clue how to get something new. Be glad we are not them.

Returned from the RD 8 days ago. We all know Sosua’s a shit show right now. If ur willing to adapt, still a ton of fun to be had! Tough to beat the short flight & that beach. Tinder was a goldmine. Highly suggest hitting tinder a couple weeks before touching down. Ahnvee was just ehhh. Management needs to do better. One example, every patron should be given a paper receipt - especially if they ask! I understand Ahnvee was given the gift of foot traffic over night but they need to get it together. NYC Drink’s atmosphere was much better.

The reason I’m writing - An expat said Rocky’s was closing. Has anyone else heard this? I passed by several times but didn’t see Rick so I kept it moving.

I've read all the novels by Marquez, and I recommend the above mentioned book highly. especially if one is in cartagena, read 'love in the time of cholera'.

    Here's his post on DR1:

    Hi folks,

I am very sorry to report that Rocky's Rock and Blues Bar will be closing for good as of the evening of January 31st. What has been happening in Sosua has sent 95 percent of our regular clientele to greener pastures, namely, Columbia.

Milka and I have had an incredible run thanks to all of the support from DR1 and beyond but we have had enough.

Please come by Friday, January 31st for our every last "All you can Eat" BBQ and say goodbye to old friends and new.

I am officially retired collecting 2 pensions from Canada so Milka, Daenerys and I will be just fine.

It has been an incredible experience meeting all of you and I'll still be around Sosua, wanting to spend time with all of you and enjoying the company of real friends.

Thank you all for an incredible 11 years at Rocky's and take care.

    Rick

Rockys still seems to have some dodgy looking bloke sitting in the doorway ...... looks to me like he is renting the rooms out short time ......

The owner is taking Rocky’s back and plans on renovating / updating the place.

Does Rick actually own the Mary Rose or is he just renting that place as well?

Marco never owned it either, he always told me he never fixed it up as he thought the owner would just take it back after renovations.

The one thing I will give Rick credit for after he took over running Rockys from Marco was the wait times for your food after the waitress took your order.

Breakfast was usually never more than 10-12 minutes. Dinner might be 20-25 tops.

A far cry from my early visits when Marco was in charge. An hour and forty-five minutes for their 'World Famous" ribs! Upwards of 40-45 minutes for breakfast.

My trips down over the last 5-6 years, even before Rick was arrested, the place was a shell of it's former glory with so many of us making that a regular hang out. Would seldom see more than 2-3 people there no matter the time of day I was walking past and many times there would be no one in there except staff. And once Irie took over the Britannia, I made the Brit my breakfast or coffee spot on each visit.
