    Dam it..............

When you get more pesos for the dollar the peso is going down. I never want to hear that its going up ever again!!!

    Hey Jimmy, how's Sosua?

Last time I went to the DR (three weeks ago), the rate was 31 peso to the dollar.

I remember the fall of 2003. Damn that was a very good time.

Boy the DR ecconomy must really be tanking. The dollar is dropping or stagnant against currencies like the Brasilian Real, Colombian peso and the Euro. A ten percent drop in the Dominican peso in that environment is big.

    Street vs ATM

I got 31.55 on the street in Sosua on Friday, Oct 7th 2005.

I used an ATM on Sunday, Oct 9th to withdraw 6000 pesos.
My account now shows a deduction of $192.31
    That's a rate of 31.2
So very similar to what is available on the street....good to know!

This is starting to look good. I got 28 back in May of this year. If I exchange $800 USD on my next trip that is 3,200 extra pesos. Imagine that, enough to pay for a TLN with change left over.

Remember, there was a news article a couple months a go which talked about the DR gov't inflating the value of peso so they can pay off debt. Eventually this will catch up to them. The DR gov't can't keep inflating the peso value forever. I never got to experience the 45-1 rate. I would be happy atleast to see 33.33-1 rate. That would make it easier to calculate the rate change for my head, I mean in my head.
