Thanks, I'm not sure, last year during Semana Santa the clubs in Puerto Plata were all closed... including El Bohen (now closed permanently) and Cristal's... Barba Negra was doing business as usual but that is a hotel... On the beach in Costambar if you were drinking you had to hide your beverages, the alcohol could not be out in the open...![]()
My understanding is that all the bars close Thur April 5 at midnight and re-open Fri April 6 at midnight. No music or alcohol for good Friday.
Thanks, for the info... I hope that it works out that way... got a bachelor party coming!!!
Does anyone else have a differing opinion or information about the action in Sosua for the week of Semana Santa April 2-8 2012???

You got correct info. . . . Everything closes down on Thursday . . . the national guard roams the beach . . . Starting Thursday morning, Sosua changes from tourist to puro dominicano's, its get real loco. . . . thus the national guard. . . . but if you like spending time hanging with locals like I do, its a big party . . Dominican style
Semana Santa is dif. compared to how it is normally. A lot of parties in Santiago and from what I heard Cabarete is the place to be. I heard theres a 24 hour party on the beach during that time.
As for Sosua beach... PACKED with mostly dominicans. A lot of eye candy but most with their boy friends. Sosua at night is business as usual. when the clock hits 12 that sunday i believe...the music come back on and everything back to normal.
My advice... take advantage of the beach parties
When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...
So, the clubs close at midnight Thursday, and don't open until midnight Friday. And I've heard the National Guard comes out.
Are the beach stalls still selling booze Friday during the day? And are the restaraunts are open?
Yes i was ordering drinks at the bar on the beach... The guy was also playing music but very low.
How is the situation in Santo Domingo, Thursday night?
