Is there any good casino action with pretty good payouts close to sousa beach were I just booked a room in the Europa. Wouldn't mind taking a taxi to puerto plata just to gamble in the afternoon while recovering

There is a small casino in Sosua as well as one going towards Caberete, about 5 minutes out of town.Originally Posted by Northbound
Yeah I was in the Playa Chicita casino last trip, it was small with about 100 slot machines and 3 blackjack tables going.
Ther is one in breezes I am told, east of sosua towards Caberete.
Also the Playa Dorada has 3 casinos, it is west of Sosua before Puerto Plata. I had a buddy staying in Playa Dorada, the Jack Tar one Is supposed good.
There are three again there? I thought it was two?Originally Posted by kevyboy
It was 3 last September, when my buddy was there. It could be 2 now.
It was two a few years ago so now it must be three.Originally Posted by kevyboy

Been to 2 of the 3. Jack Tar is the best. They are all pretty small though.Originally Posted by kevyboy
Define pretty good payouts, you didn't even mention your game of chance.Originally Posted by Northbound

The casino at Playa Chicita was nice enough to pay for dinner for me and my bud, and for my last nights drinking and chica. They made this donation at the blackjack table
Me and Beas checked out the casino towards Cabarete. It was nice...and the staff was lovely!!
I read in a Frommers Guide book that some of the casino's only take american currency..
Is this true?
False, they all take pesos.Originally Posted by Northbound
ACtually they take either American currency or Pesos.
Roulette and slots are my games of choice...BJ from time to time.
See I am not an outdoor watersport, sit on the beach and get sun kind of guy. I would rather go gambling or to a mall or some air conditioned place to hang out while I regain my strength for a evening.
I fiqure I will get a massage during the day but that only kills an hour..
first trip to sousa and I plan on arriving the first week of december at Hotel Europa and stay for 4 days. Been doing alot of research and been reading jimmydr reports for years on the other 2 boards so I almost feel like I know the whole lay of the land as far as where to go and where things are (Chica Related).
Good Payout meaning I will not loose all dinero in an hour. Want to make it last.
By the way is the flights to pop from miami are in the neighboorhood of 555.00 ++ so I am thinking of Santo domingo and taking a caribe bus to Sousa. Have alot of you done this before...and are I correct in asuming it is a $10.00 USD taxi to bus station approx $5.00 USD for bus ride and then another $8.00 to Hotel Europa.....All paid in pesos of course..
A little nervous,

You may try flying into Santiago as well (STI)Originally Posted by Northbound
I think its more like $15 to the bus then about $5 for the bus then $6 to Europa.
Gambling is complete unregulated so I advise you to stay away from the slot machines. I have heard payouts as low as 60%!Originally Posted by Northbound
Roulette is the same as in America with Double Ought. I won some money on an unbalanced table in Santiago, but it wasn't off enough to stay.
As far as BJ, they odds are the same and you can double down on anything (bonus) BUT they use 10-12 deck shoes!!!
Word of warning stay away from any games of chance you never heard of, and never ever use your credit card in a casino! They have a con game in some casinos and it will seem like you are winning but in the end you will end up down thousands of dollars! They also have shitty "poker" games like Carribean Stud.
As far as your game plan, a larger city might be better for you but as you said it's your first time Sosua is the way to go, but you might get bored after 2 days (at least during the daytime).
Count on US$30 from Las Americas airport to Caribe in SD, $25 if you speak Spanish. I think the last price I saw was RD$200 SD to Sosua, and then maybe $5-8 from the Caribe Sosua station to the Europa unless you are traveling light enough for a moto, then RD$50 tops!
PS. I believe you are taking Spirit out of FtL. if you arrive on the 10:20pm flight you will have to stay the night in SD. If you arrive on an earlier flight then for a cheaper taxi fare, exit the airport, then go back inside and go up the stairs and exit on the departure level and look for a local taxi dropping someone off. It will be cheaper.
In Playa Dorada I play Black Jack at the Paradise.
It is good to have a low minimum for when things are not going so good and you can always bet more than enough.
Minimum is 50P or $5US with 6 deck shoe or 100P for 4 deck shoe.
Jack Tar is 150P or $5US with 8 deck shoe.
Nice free drinks including CC at both.
why don't you stay in the Field Off Dreams Hotel, it's across the Playa Dorada.
