When you can think of yesterday without regret and tomorrow without fear, you are near contentment.
Your opinions are not my problem...
We may, possibly, just a little....enjoy our food too much, but who's judging!
Ottimo Restaurant, breakfast
It's VERY basic but delicious
For an extra 100 pesos you get a YUGE bowl of fresh fruit
Other Ottimo Breakfast offerings

Very authentic Japanese in Cabarete
Osteria Toscana....again
El Rancho Hotel for Breakfast.
I would "cheerfully kill some of you" for more of these rolls
Wifi code....TOTALLY killer ass on the waitress too
So...who lost/won the bet?
Escargot from La Finca.
We dropped in for some apps before dinner elsewhere....
Some buddies are in Sosua now. Have been for a few days. They go regularly but it's been 4 or 5 months.
Their comments are that it's about as dead, slow as they've EVER seen it. Had dinner at Orchidee, a great little restaurant and they were the only customers...for an hour or more.
Another Night at another place...La Finca. GREAT food and relatively unknown and underrated but been there for about 30 years... them and a table for 2...and no one else for 2 hours
The beach much slower than they remember except for today. Sunday was busy but of course no one is making much from the hordes that bring all their own food and drinks.
The 2 hotels (which shall remain nameless) where they're staying are almost empty. Business people are openly complaining
It's not a good time to be a business owner for many in Sosua.
Of course there are some places that are busy. Britannia was hopping and that's great. Jolly Roger is either almost empty or is full of bingo players. I admire anyone that can make good business in a place like Sosua....but I'd rather poke myself in the eye than hang there lol
The weather however has been fucking GREAT! I wish I'd gone but....someone has to earn a living
BTW, a young, (36 year old???) black guy, American, dropped dead today in Sosua..... in front of Moura Mai this morning, jogging. R. I. P.
Condolences to his friends and family.
It was quite hot and humid today.
I have no more details, yet except that the assumption was that it was either heatstroke or drugs as he was not known to drink.
" Expect The Best, Be Prepared For The Worst, Fuck What Others Think, And Do Your Own Thing,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Compared to January it's totally slower...
Too bad. I hate to see the businesses I frequent, or any good one for that matter, suffer.
Summertime it is very slow, as I think it always is. Probably slower than it used to be, and I bet much more so compared to June 2010.
If you drive into town now in the afternoon, especially on Thursday to Sunday, you see a lot of lost souls hanging on the street corner outside ChezMonreal. All seem to be pondering, "what the hell do I do now that Rumba is closed?" hehe The town does look really bad in the bright afternoon sun, what with the dried up palm trees and boarded up restaurants/bars. Your friends are probably right, times are really slow. I wonder what it will be like in August and September?
the El Conde restaurant is still doing good business. Whenever I have gone by the Finca, summer or winter, it seems to be empty - although I have read good things about it on ISOC
Osteria Toscana now has pizza, and it is really good.
Water is great for swimming, and some pretty chicas still around (and some not so pretty!)
El Conde has VERY good Food.. .that Little Irishman can cook his ASS off... Nice fella too..
Gets his Vegetables from that Vegeman guy who everyone seems to know.. also nice guy to chat with from Vancouver I believe ..
Their Fish and Chips are probably the best I have had in a long time .. absolutely superb crunch on the outside, and tender perfect moist on inside.. the guy has got it down.
The Bratwurst was also very good..
and the Ceasar Salad I had 2x, excellent ... but the chicken on the salad was different each time which was odd.. Much more seasoned and tasty the first time..
From what people who were eating and drinking there are saying its their REGULAR SPOT...
If the other half of the place is still Finca ? i did not eat there, but was told by patrons its the other partner , as the 2 had split up, and the food is equally very good, but oddly i also never saw anyone in there, whereas El Conde had a good crowd.. Maybe they have a more elaborate Menu ? but i thought i also saw hamburgers being made there for fast take out .
Its VERY HOT in there , so be prepared ..
El Conde is my go to spot for dinner,I've eaten there dozens of times. Other than the high end expensive places like Bologńa El Conde has the best food in Sosua,he does a remarkable business there especially considering he is a stones throw from Baileys,I'll never understand why that place does so well.
