Not all come from crowded houses. I know quite a few that live alone with a child or 2-3. However, I agree that many are often sharing things with many others outside of the house. During quarnatine they were taking private taxis or semi-private cars with only 2 other chicas. They were trying to isolate--SOMEWHAT. Now that things are open, you're correct though, in that they're taking crowded publicos, gua guas etc...
In theory, I think some of us have conracted CV several times and by taking multiple showers a day, swimming, changing clothes frequently, etc...have contracted and washed it away...Obviously none of that helps if someone sneezes in your face who is infected though.

From July 1, hotels and resorts may receive guests again, but under strict conditions. The bars and restaurants will remain closed for the time being. The restaurants are of course still allowed to make take-away meals available. The restrictions for the hotels are as follows. Disinfect hands and luggage upon entry. Disinfectant gel and wipes should be available at the entrance and in the rooms. The bar and restaurant is only open to regular guests. After 8 pm the bar and restaurant will be closed. The closing at 8 pm also applies to other companies. Furthermore, keep a distance, wear a face mask outside the house, and wash your hands regularly. According to the official government agency 'Salud Publico', there is now a pandemic in the Dominican Republic. So all these protective measures are necessary to prevent further spread of the coronavirus.

The cases in the DR seem to be on the rise which is not very surprising but I was wondering where they are occurring

Pretty much as expected most of the cases are in the Santo Domingo and Santiago areas which follows along with the population of the country
Never really been that bad in Puerto Plata Province
Be interested to see what the next couple of weeks brings for cases for the country

Basically, the government is looking to introduce breath tests, offer insurance, get rid of proof of good health before the trip, all before December; meaning November trip may be feasible to some
A breath test for ChiComVirus?
Yup, and it was first reported in May ....
BGU researcher develops one-minute COVID-19 breath test
Not only a new test, but a new way of testing for the bug! And "greater than 90% accuracy"....May 15, 2020
Ben-Gurion University of the Negev's Prof. Gabby Sarusi has developed and is now validating a test that identifies carriers of the COVID-19 virus in less than a minute with greater than 90% accuracy and at a dramatically lower price than any other method available. Clinical trials in conjunction with the Defense Ministry on more than 120 Israelis had a better than 90% success rate compared to Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) tests. The ongoing trials will seek to determine if the test can identify the specific stage of COVID-19 infection as well as its presence....
... The new method is based on the change in the resonance in the THz spectral range imposed by the coronavirus through a THz spectroscopy performed on the device. This spectral range has been employed in recent decades for the fast detection and identification of biological samples.
Breathalyzers. They're not just for alcohol any more.
They have to get their house in order before snowbird season. That would be a huge blow to the economy if they won't/can't come down.
December would be the most important date for that, so may have better chance of escaping around then. Time will tell.
September 3 plus 45 days to mid October, so the curfew will remain, I suppose
The new admin represents a power turn like through the history of the country, and now the yare going to profit from the sale of land around Pedernales for the real estate deal of their lives
As for tests, Austrians have even developed a 'gargle' test; just imagine Arnold saying: 'gargle test'
As we already know the state of emergency has been extended an additional 45 days from September 3rd which would put it about October 18
But the curfew has been extended 25 days from September 3 ending September 27.
Always possible they could extend it again after that but good news none the less.

Decree | Government extends curfew for 25 more days
- The new measure begins this Thursday, September 3 and will conclude on September 27
The country has several curfews.
The President of the Republic, Luis Abinader, extended this Tuesday night for 25 more days the curfew that governs the country to try to stop the contagion of the coronavirus.
The disease has a cumulative number of 94,974 cases, of which 24,505 are active. COVID-19 has caused 1,738 deaths.
The new measure is contained in decree 431-20 and begins this Thursday, September 3, the date on which the current curfew ends, established on July 20, 2020 in decree 266-20 and its amendments.
The current provision also establishes the ratification and maintenance of the other provisions in force.
It will conclude on Sunday 27 of this month.
In his considerations, he says that the decree is issued because the state of emergency is extended for 45 more days, due to the epidemiological evolution of COVID-19.
It also cites within the framework of the state of emergency and by virtue of the recommendations of specialized international organizations and experts in the field, the Executive Power established a curfew in the national territory through Decree 298-20, of July 20, 2020, which was later extended through decree 298-20 dated August 28 of this year.
He also says that the level of contagion and the positivity rate are still maintained in the country, which led to the establishment of the curfew, as well as the differences that these present between the geographical demarcations of the country, "requiring a differentiated treatment to achieve efficacy in the implementation of public policies to combat COVID-19 in the country ”.
