Beginning 19 April 2021 through 16 May 2021: As part of the continued state of emergency all Dominicans and tourists will be subject to a curfew from Monday – Friday: 10:00 PM – 5:00 AM and Saturday – Sunday: 9:00 PM – 5:00 AM.

Just read on the DR1 news feed that the President got vaccinated and that 2 million more vaccines arrived from China and would be distributed to the population in the coming days and weeks. I believe it was Hunter who mentioned that of all the countries we primarily like to go, it really does appear that the DomRep has their act together and will be the best bet for going overseas and enjoying doing what we like to do. It wouldn't surprise me if the DR moved to eliminate the curfews after this current extended time period has passed, and certainly by the end of June.

Seeing the number of bars that are already staying open late, as well as the recent youtube vids of Sosua and the beach I've been seeing from a variety of 'tubers, maybe the time has come to rediscover the place with a renewed spirited attitude and positive outlook, after being denied for so long in our desire to travel.

Just maybe this Caribbean island country that so many either had moved on from, or had long ago put on the backburner for some shiny new spot, will be the lead dog that brings us back to where it all began for so many, and create a whole slew of new experiences and memories in the next phase of our travels.

I can't wait to touch down again toward the end of next month. Haven't tasted a Presidente in a year and a half. I'm long overdue.

Hope they open the jabs to non-residents, and I mean Haitians, because likely they don't do it now, and the curfew has to go. I'm less optimistic with when everything normalizes, we can take a guessed poll.

Not sure how accurate it is but the DR is said to have contracted for 19.45 million doses for the DR which they claim is enough to cover almost 90% of the population

If it actually happens they should be able to get pretty good coverage

Yes, totally understand. But what place WILL be like we remember? Certainly not Pattaya. Or Angeles City. Jamaica? Most likely not, even SeaWeed has seen a difference. Can't speak to Columbia as I've never been, but I have to figure there as well to a certain extent.

But as long as there are venues where alcohol is served and where men and women can mingle, dance, flirt, negotiate......then things in the end will work out. There is always more than one path to take to reach your destination.

Or, as they say in Thailand, "Same same but different!"

All the countries decline usually to wars, demographics and moral degradation.

Dom Rep is borrowing beyond the means, has not yet seriously changed abortion laws but on the path to change them. As long as poverty, greed and population growth exist, things should remain as they were in the past.

As long as Sosua's main public beach remains unspoiled by construction, there will be enough space to have good time.

Waiting until they drop the curfew and at least a couple of hooker night time venues are opened, doesn't matter which part of the city.

As for next 6 months there isn't much visibility: Colombia has a very rough time now, Thailand has unrealistic entry requirements, Brazil is very uneven because of the malady.

So, overall I'm in the camp of things will normalize, return to the mean , and nothing will change. The more things change the more they remain the same. And sometimes, for things to remains the same, something have to change.

My biggest concern post-pandemic when it comes to Medellin is the closure of casa's and strip clubs. We already lost Fase Dos and New Life, 2 of the most well-known, and what I assume to be most lucrative spots in that city. The pandemic has accelerated the strip club decline, especially up here in Canada.

More and more stuff is moving to online such as IG, Tinder, and SA. I'm personally a fan of the 'ground game', but I also realize that may be significantly reduced when I return to Colombia.

We already lost Fase Dos and New Life, 2 of the most well-known, and what I assume to be most lucrative spots in that city. The pandemic has accelerated the strip club decline, especially up here in Canada.

Plus if you are at Ahvee and past curfew transit time and didnt want to pull a hardcore there are bandit motos outside. Can save yourself money over the 500 peso taxi mafia...I dont get the feeling cops are stopping motos at night but you are taking risk vs taxis...

Most of those places are a non issue

Europa inside bar. Coco, Las Palmaras aren't getting more than 10 total customers after hours.
Copa maybe a few more but that's really more of a local bar
Only the Casino and Ahnvee can handle lots of people and you have to be at Ahnvee prior to curfew to get in anyway unless you chose to stay there
