Mi esposa and I only went this time to keep our new friends Mr and Mrs Thunderstar company. It was a really downbeat affair. Only a year ago you had to arrive at least an hour before it started just to see anything. This time there were very few guys around, it started very late for no announced reason, and our waitress was as surly as hell. Although we were very well-behaved and British, perhaps Blackbeards had already decided on their policy of discouraging outside visitors which was announced shortly afterwards. I certainly won't be going back there without good reason and I always had a soft spot for the place as it was my introduction to the DR.
More to the point the chicas on show were the worse bunch I have ever seen. Most of the acceptable girls were eliminated in the first round, including that old stager Jassi who was still as good-looking as any of them, and the eventual winner was the plainest girl I have ever seen at Barba Negra. She looked as though she had been assembled from spare parts of other chicas dismembered in motoconcho accidents. I am sure they might all be sweet girls and great in the sack but that was no help to us intruders who just turned up for some eye candy.
