05/2011 - Santo Domingo Hotel Links (and if chica-friendly) GOOD PRICE/VALUE

Looking for more hotel websites for Santo Domingo (and if chica-friendly or not, cedulas required). I see some updates in other threads...some of it a couple years old.

I have scanned many threads and have noted these properties as having GOOD things said about them.

    Apart Hotel Roma
    http://apartahotelroma.com/en.html
seems to get VERY GOOD reviews for LOCATION, PRICE and VALUE.

    Jaguar Apart Studios

New Hotel in Gazcue, Hostal San Francisco de Asis, on Pasteur, one block up from Independencia, a couple minutes walk from all the Pasteur casas, chica friendly, brand new furnishings albeit a bit sparse, cable, wifi, hot water and parking, $40 standard, $50 jr suite, $60 suite or double

Also Hotel La Morada, on Santiago esq. Danae, has a beautiful rooftop bar and restaurant area which has never opened for biz, good view and usually very private, also has jacuzzi but can only use during the day, chica friendly but limited to one chica at a time and one per day $40 standard

Chica friendly, quiet (west of city), Ho house across the street, disco on the corner (with many Putas), bodega across the street, colmados 1 block away, 1 block off the seawall, totally Chica friendly (sometimes Putas reside there), 10 minutes closer to SDQ than downtown hotels, all 1 and 2BR apts, full kitchen, bar, rest., laundry service, pool, Jacuzzi, $60/ night. They'll try $70/ night with breakfast...don't do it. Cold cuts and wonder bread is not breakfast.

    The place is totally secure.

$80 per night, so kinda expensive...but it's nice.
Nice place, secured parking, apartment style rooms. New and nicely decorated. Of course chica friendly.
It's on Pasteuer...(Hoe Row) about 20 yards from the Malecon.
Car is not really necessary, plenty to walk to around the area.

    AKA Marina Real Hotel
    $50 per night.
My go to place...(if I don't do an apartment).
Nice rooms, chica friendly. Customer Service and amenities hit or miss at times. This could be a GREAT place if they tried.
Really close to the colonial zone, but kinda hard to find for taxis, or chicas.
Secured parking. Personally..I recommend a car. Nothing around there to walk to.

I agree this place is nice. Have not stayed but took a tour of each room with Koki. The $50 jr is worth the upgrade.

I will be at the Mercure Hotel for a couple weeks in October. I will give my review and see if the hotel is worthy of adding to this thread.

Mercure may hit you with a chica fee for some guests you might bring to your room. I read posts from a over a year wherein the fee was around $16US. I have not stayed at the Mercure. Good location, modern style hotel in zona colonial, same company (Accor) operates the Frances Hotel and the Nicholas Ovando Hotel in zona colonial. If you stay at the Mercure you could see if they would allow you use the pool at the Nicholas Ovando Hotel (if you were interested in swimming).

I'm looking to bust out of BC for the weekend while I'm there and want to avoid my usual $200 taxi expenditure.

At $75 a night this place looks good and if still Chica friendly, it looks perfect.

After poking around their spread on "Booking.com" I settled on the Sea View Suite for $100 a night. It's worth the extra $25.

I'll be staying at a brand new experience in BC and I'd like my time in the Capital to be easy, peasy, convenient just in case the place in BC turns out to be a shit hole.

I'm staying at a new place in Boca Chica.

    I am prepared for anything.

It's a condo, two blocks North of Duarte. Looks good but I won't know until I get there.

$250 for the week. Could be great, could be shit. This is the razor's edge. It's where I dwell.

I settled on hotel Raizor for my first stay in SDQ...Jimmy told me its centrally located and got it for 65 a night superior room. Think taxes are on top of that.
