Vida es buena....
U guys are comparing
Sitting at 2 Diff Airports in the USA for 17 EXTRA Hours like a Schmuck.
Probably spend like $50 in crappy airport food alone cuz you bored.
to Landing at STI at like midnight, direct smooth flight
enjoying a lat night out maybe, or a bite to eat. Then Sleep comfortably in a cabana a couple hours , get your first nut..
Get up have a nice breakfast, and take a Comfortable Bus to Sosua ??
those 2 scenarios are even in the same money saving comparison ?
Really
LOL
why would you sit in the airport? hop the metrorail into miami for $2.25, go sit on the beach, relax, have some lunch/dinner/breakfast/whatever. it's really not that hard to kill 12-14 hrs in miami.
not saying I'd do it, but, otoh - those direct jetblue flights get into santiago at 2-3am (unless you fly out of ewr in the morning, but then you can tack another $100-200 onto the fare), so you're either spending $75 on a cab, renting a car (if any agency is open) or taking a cab to a hotel and blowing $30-50 there, plus the bus to pop in the morning. basically, you still wind up with 7-8hrs to kill and you still wind up spending $50+.and lose a day/night.
same same.
btw, that's the closest thing to a TR that you've ever posted.
Tell the truth now, some of y'all need to SEE the Ocean when you Land.. or you dont feel like you really arrived in the DR yet...
Personally I prefer landing at STI or SDQ, even given same price.
but for $200 + Savings , sometimes as high as $400 diff..
no way i want to pay that to land at POP just to get that Aerial view ?
nah.. pass...
Yes Deezl, I will SPEND my Savings in Santiago....call me silly..
Never took a Taxi to Sosua in my LIFE.. that would be pissing $ away.
Or darkness and then the Pretty Lights... good enough for me too..
I like arriving at midnight or 3 am... im a night owl anyway.
I was only busting chops, i hope Irie and Deezl didnt take it seriously...
we all have our own way of saving $$, and how we then choose to spend that money we saved.. in addition to spending our hard earned $ as well.
God bless Jackandback for ex ... he likes Spirit, and dont mind the inconveniences.. and he saves $ so he can take more trips.
Its fun to make fun of Spirit and the many ways they suck, but in the end if a guy is happy with the money he saves..
GOOD FOR HIM... as long as it works for YOU...
sometimes maybe people dont catch the sarcasm and outright contradictions in the Humor though..
I said before I rather pay $518 than $240, which is obviously not true..but there is a Convenience to flying the next day , if you dont mind the slightly higher price..
Some guys plan trips 6 months in advance..
I could NEVER do that .. for others it works great...
Booking a ticket and leaving 2 days later.. thats like an Adrenalin rush for me.
I got no time to worry about loose ends before I leave ,just pack and go.
Thats Why i kind of ENVY the weekend Warriors in an odd way..im guessing a lot of them decide on tues or wed that they will be Poolside
Sat AM with a Presidente in their hand...
The offer is available beyond July if you look at it. I was able to pull up some dates yesterday on my initial search for September through November.
Everybody who uses the board and reads through it is different. Like Deezl said it's really just about finding something to do in Miami for the layover. I was speaking to a co worker who I was explaining the deal to and he asked me if it was possible to stay in Miami for 1-3 days and then flying to DR and doing the same on a return. For those who have a reason to go to Miami it is a great deal and you get to land in POP which is usually the most expensive airport to land into in DR. If you have a long trip I don't see this as being much of a problem but if you are on limited time and are just thinking about a quick trip then this deal probably isn't for you.
Some of us are built for Spirit and the rest of us are not, both physically and mentally prepared for those flights on Spirit. Different strokes for different folks but no need to explain why you wouldn't do it and why you think a great deal SUCKS!!! in your opinion. Some people have to plan out far in advance for whatever reason and they have or are figuring out what works for them. I remember seeing some amazing Spirit deals to DR but never pulled the trigger due to the stories I heard, just the extremes of how good and bad it could be.
I just booked ewr-sdq direct one way...then pop-ewr direct one way....$536 round trip....less a 50 credit I had.....
last 2 weeks in August....JetBlue was 700 same itinerary out of JFK so I thought that was a good deal
now I gotta drag my ass to EWR which isn't too bad going over Tappen Zee...but I like JFK better if I had to choose.
